Wiring question

Maybe someone has already done this and can help. I installed the magicflex channelz fender lights and fender tips unit from custom dynamics. I really like this set up, but at night the fender lights are too bright. Even the reflection off my hands and windshield is distracting. So, what I wanted to do is install a switch where during the day I can run them as running/turn signal lights, but at night I can flip the switch and they will only function as turn signals. I was thinking a double pole, double throw switch. One pole hooked to the postive wire from turn signals and the other pole to the positive wire from the tips unit.

Has anyone done this or do you think it will work? Someone told me BRP does wiring a little different. They told me the positive isn't interupted but instead BRP interupts the negative. If this is true, I wouldn't know how to hook the switch up.

Any help?

Make sure you follow the installation instruction. Voltmeter is a good buddy. switches are device to interrupt the flow of energy.:yes::yes::yes: good luck.

You can add a resistor inline on the positive that will reduced the current going to the led's and dim them a little. To be honest I add the same reaction after installing Tricled fenders lights, but after a few night times rides you get used to them and don't notice.

I was wondering if I might just get used to it. I can pull my helmet up where the chin guard blocks the direct light, but the red glare reflecting off my hands in the mirrors is still pretty bright. I may just try it for a few weeks and see if I get accustomed to it. If not, I will try the double pole double throw switch.

:shocked: Being VERY glare-sensitive; I was a bit concerned that this might be an issue.
Please let us know what you come up with as a solution.

I have gotten somewhat used to the glare but it is still a little much. Decided to install the double pole double throw switch. Hooked one hot from the fender tips positive and one from the turn signal positive. Flipping the switch turns the fender lights off but they no longer function as turn signals. I guess the interupted ground must be true. I have no idea how to get around this. So I have a switch to disable the fender lights but not exactly what I am wanting to do. Any ideas?

Tricled sell a dimmer switch not sure if it would do what u want but it mite. give Reggy a buzz an see what says at Tricled.com PWM (pulse width modulator) dimmer switch.
