• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Have any of you folks out there had issues w/the zumo 660 that comes stock on RT LIMITED's and not being able to see the screen at certain times of the day/light conditions? I know that GPS CITY out of Las Vegas has a snap-on sheild for Garmin's but has anyone ever used one of these or is their something else on the market that works better for the majority of you out there? Thanks.

I'm not familiar with the 660 so I'll ask. Is the screen anti-glare? If not, get an anti-glare screen protector for smart phones or tablets. It'll help a lot. Also, what color jacket do you wear? If it's light colored you may be getting reflection of it on the screen. I did with my tablet, which I use for GPS, when I had it mounted on the handlebar. I use an anti-glare screen protector also. I have a shade over my tablet screen but I'm not sure just how much it really helps. You can see a pic of it on post #21 here: http://www.spyderlovers.com/forums/showthread.php?64013-Using-a-non-BRP-GPS-Part-1.

The screen is anti glare and works much better than Nuvi but still can be hard to see under the right conditions. I make my own out of 1/8" ABS plastic 3 1/2" wide and a bit longer than the top and 2 sides combined. I used with the pebbled finish which looks better than the smooth. I made a block out of 4x4 that matches the screen shape then heated slowly in the oven laying on top of the block. When it starts to drop I took two flat boards and pushed the overhanging sides down and picked up the assembly to remove from the oven. I held in place long enough to all allow the plastic harden then trimmed to the final shape. I added industrial Velcro to attached to the Garmin and black felt underneath to further reduce possibility of glare. This comes out looking very professional, holds its shape and gives you the satisfaction of doing it yourself.

I have put over 20,000 miles on this shade and never had any problems with it.

I picked up one at Americade. It's hard plastic lined with a dull, fuzzy liner and Velcro's on the back of the 660 unit. It doesn't get rid of the glare all the time, but it's better than nothing.

I don't want to make this sound out of place, we have the BRP 660 kit installed on our 14RTs, so far, each time glare became an issue, I used the tilting ability of mount and removed the glare.

Just a thought, best of luck with it.

Additionally, we ride in high vis jackets, andd it does get very sunny on rides where we live.

ZUMO 660 glare sheild

Thanks all. My riding gear is tourmaster Air and one is black and the other is grey in color.Yes I use the "tilting"feature but along w/age the eyesight begins to go,so I must wear glasses(transitions). Most of you look pretty young so maybe your eyesight is probably better than mine. I like the hard plastic/clip on shade that was on E-Bay.soon as I find my specs I'll start looking!!:yes:Ride On!!

Zumo glare in sun

I have tried a number of shades for my Zumo 660 but none were satisfactory for me. I finally ordered a shade from this vendor. It was a little more expensive ($29.99) but it made the screen very readable and I can now use it as it was intended.
Look here:

It is pre-molded for your Garmin model and attaches with very strong Velcro.
Well worth the cost.

That's the one I picked up at Americade. It just fits between the bars and the velcro that holds it on is VERY strong. Like I said, not perfect, but works pretty good under most light situations.
