There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. Heated Grips on the Cheap

Sometimes I can be extremely cheap.
What triggers this isn't exactly evident to me.

When I saw F3 heated grips for $219.00 something just happened.

So I ordered a set of Chinese elements on ebay for $4.55 including shipping.

Heated Grip Elelment

They came a few weeks later.
I didn't like the switch (even though it was a two position hi/lo so I opted for what looks for all the world like the same switch BRP uses on their grips.
Like BRP's it has only one setting (hi).
That was 8.99 from Amazon.

Last week I got around to installing them.
Really simple.
You wrap the element around the existing grip then use the provided heat shrink tubes over them.
Wire them up.
I put a pair of grip buddies over them.

I've heard that the regular F3 heated grips are tepid, not so with these.
In fact I think I'll put a 2 ohm resistor in series to tuurn down the heat.
Of course, How the existing grips stand up to the heat remains to be seen.

CHINESE HEATED GRIPS

Roger, considering the price of those grips I would be afraid they would catch fire!

heated grips

Roger, I made the same DIY heated grips for my STS.
I bought the 2 stage Chinese grips that have a resistance wire built into the stock wiring.
I replaced the 2 stage switch that was included with a switch I bought on Amazon. Looks like the BRP switch.
Upon inspection I found all of the connections on the Chinese heater circuit were only crimped and not soldered so I got out the iron and made right.
The grips work well and were cost effecitve. Total investment $11.75 for 2 stage heated grips.

You probably did a wise thing soldering the connector, that's something I should have done.
Since it's all done & dusted now maybe I'll order another set just have them around in case these crap out.
