Short Passenger - Seat Ideas?

Hello all,

So my wife is a little shorter, and when she sat on a 2019 touring, well, she said she felt like she was sitting on a fat horse with how spread her legs had to be, and said she couldn't sit that way for even a half hour. We then sat on the newest generation RT, and she said it was super comfortable. Any of you with shorter passengers who have solved their pain?

I should also add, I think part of it may be how wide the chassis is too.

If the seat on the "newer" generation fits her better, maybe the seat you like can be put on the 2019. OEM Seats are sold separately for about $500. Custom seats expect to pay around $1000 :bowdown:

Are you sure that wasn't a pointed comment from her about wanting a newer Spyder?? :dontknow:

I'd certainly clarify that question before even thinking about putting a newer seat on a 2019!! :lecturef_smilie:

Well, only if you are keen to have her ride with you, I guess! :roflblack: If you don't really want to encourage any of that, then sure, go right ahead looking at better seats - new aftermarket seats, some of which can be custom made to your pillion's needs & wants, start at about $1000, and go a loooong way up from there! :spyder:

Yea, I think it was two different items. One being that the seat and chassis made it so that her legs were too spread atop of the Spyders, and that the RTLs have nice features like heated seats, backrests, and extra cargo so we can bring our board games along with too.

Also thank you ARt & Peter for the warm welcoming. I am hoping to get a Spyder sometime before 2025. =)

You can also have seats tailored. Foam can be shaped to give a more comfortable sitting platform.

And if it will help, there are ways to vertically adjust the passenger foot-boards.

Wow! That's a dangerous statement. I used to fight fire for a living. I think that was less hazardous!

Check with https://www.meancitycycles.com - They can work with you and make your seat more comfortable for your wife. I have done business with them several years ago and they were excellent. But I think that a newer RTL is in your future.

If you are close to Kingston or can make the trip, take your wife, and bike to Rich's Custom Seats
