• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

What did you do to your Spyder today?

Those do work very well. I'll order some for the Spyder.
All my automobiles have Fumoto oil drain valves, so I never have to worry about leaks or pulling the threads in the pan.
The ones with nipples also make collecting the used oil in the 5 qt containers a clean and easy operation. No dirty drain pan to fool with.
Which Fumotos fit Spyders? And Highlander Hybrids?

Which Fumotos fit Spyders? And Highlander Hybrids?
The Spyder has a special drain plug, that actually seals two sections, the oil tank and the crankcase. No Fumoto valve is available for it, sadly.
Check out the Fumoto website for application info. They have a wide selection of valves to fit almost anything.

....that actually seals two sections,.....
This reminded me of a question that popped into my head right after I bought my rig... and then promptly left.
What would be the results of the total loss of or partial internal leakage of the specific O rings on the drain plugs and the filter stick. Dropped or complete oil pressure loss, no loss of pressure but incorrect flow path, oil going in the wrong direction or??

The result would be lowered oil pressure in certain areas of the engine and possibly too much oil in other areas. The dry sump might not maintain proper operation levels also. The restrictions between the different oil galleries and holding areas are designed in and should be maintained as was OEM. The improper levels might affect transmission and clutch operation and provide too little or even too much oil to some of the upper engine lubrication galleries. For proper lubrication, too much can be just as bad as too little. Some of the problems which surface might be excessive oil foaming or low oil levels at the scavenge pumps, either of which could result in loss of pump prime and not enough lubrication to some areas.
An O-ring missing at the dipstick tube area would probably soak the side of the engine with oil and blow on the back on the belt, pulleys, and the rear end.

Sitting here thinking about why I like my 2018 Spyder RT-L vs the next generation. Note: I rode a brand new 2020 RT-L in my BRP sponsored trike class in October 2020.

Other than the fact that I really like the 2019 Spyder RT chrome wheels that are also on some years/models F3's. I have bought three 2018 RT-L and currently still have two asphalt grey ones. A deal to buy a 2019 one fell through. The first asphalt grey one I bought in January 2024 was/is a dark version that has some OEM chrome items added and has PPA chrome ORB wheels. The second asphalt grey 2018 RT-L chrome is in my stepson's garage in Washington State and I will see it in May.

1. I just kind of like the funky shape of the pre 2020's.
2. The brake pedal on the 2020 plus models is not to my liking.
3. Handle bars on the 2020 hit my thigh in tight turns.
4. Friends wife with a 2021 complains about where the passengers back rest hits her back.
5. I noticed that the headlights on his 2021 are hardly visible in my mirrors unless he is straight behind me. LED head lights in a pre 2020 show up like a train locomotive coming at you, AKA, no one is going to miss you. Note: I run high beams all the time and ask people in rides I lead to run their high beams, as it is easier to keep track of the other riders behind you.
6. Broken latches and fit/finish on 2020+ seems like common issues on the new models.
7. I never would by a matt finish model, as maintenance of the finish in tricky at best.
8. If one is going to have two trikes for two locations, it is nice that they are basically the same to ride and maintain.
9. Like a well broken in pair of shoes, I just like what I have, even when at 81 I am looking for things to spend money on before I step off the planet!
