• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Is there a List of Fault Code explanations? (I just got U220E!)

Hi! New to the forum and excited to start the Spyder journey! Yesterday, I bought a 2018 Can Am RT Limited and drove it home a couple hours. When I got home, I learned how to check codes (wished I knew how to do that before I paid for it lol) and there were no codes. Today, went out and was playing with the menus and there was a Fault Code u220E that I found when I was just playing with the menus again (there was no other indication or "check engine" etc).

I have searched high and low for a document that lists all the codes and what they refer to but only find broken links. Does anyone have this? The unit has only 1,200 miles on it and ran great, so not overly worried. I know I do need to get the "first service" done asap as it's been a few years regardless of little miles...

Thanks!

You will find them in the service manuals...

And welcome to the forums! I wouldn't be too concerned about that code.

thanks! Seems pretty random. Is there a .pdf manual or service manual that has all these? I'd like to have it for reference.

If you bought this spyder from a Dealer, they can pull the entire History of your bike and probably print it all out .... something nice to have for your records .... Go back and ask .... If they tell you this can't be ....RED FLAG .... THEY ARE LYING OR REALLY STUPID .... either way this will tell you who you are dealing ..... PS - anything in the Can-Am spyder computer is there FOREVER ... the same as all home & business computers.:congrats: .... :welcome: .... Mike

:agree: :welcome:But would double check battery terminals clean & tight. Might just be precursor to more codes. If multiple Codes start showing definitely wanna load test battery :thumbup:good history check can be useful (IF you can retain & keep track of for personal records)

Fault Codes

:chat:...If you purchased your Spyder from a Dealer, have them perform a Fault Code Report.
A private sale the 'F C Report may have a small Fee.

Either way I would definitely get a copy of the Report.
Good Luck on Your Mission. .....

I didn't buy it from a dealer... the guy bought it and has more toys than he has time, so never used it. I have to find a good dealer near me to get the first service in. It only has 1,200 miles so it's never seen the dealer since he had it delivered to his house. He does have a battery tender on it, but I'll probably just replace the battery anyways because the heat here in Florida kills batteries fast.

Just a point of information, I used copilot and asked it to identify these codes from a 2017 RT Ltd U0100, U0122, P0000. P20EB. It returned:

Short answer: Your 2017 Spyder RT Limited’s codes point to lost communication on the CANBUS (U‑codes) and an emissions‑related DEF/NOx after‑treatment fault (P20EB). P0000 is a placeholder meaning “no fault.”

✅ What each code meansU0100 — Lost Communication With ECM/ECU

This indicates the cluster or another module temporarily lost contact with the engine control module. Common causes include:

  • Low or unstable battery voltage
  • Loose battery terminals
  • Corroded grounds
  • Vibration‑induced connector issues (common on Spyders)
U0122 — Lost Communication With VCM (Vehicle Control Module)
This is another CANBUS communication fault. The VCM handles brake pressure, stability control, and other chassis functions. Loss of communication can cause limp mode.
P0000 — No Fault / Placeholder Code
This is not an error. It simply means “no active powertrain fault stored.” It often appears when scrolling through codes on the Spyder’s gauge.

P20EB — After‑Treatment NOx Sensor / DEF System Fault
This code refers to the after‑treatment system (similar to diesel SCR systems). On the Spyder, this typically indicates:
  • A fault in the NOx sensor, or
  • A fault in the after‑treatment control module, or
  • A DEF‑related efficiency issue (even though the Spyder does not use DEF, BRP uses standardized SAE code definitions)
This code appears in BRP’s expanded diagnostic lists for 2016–2017 RT models.

🧭 What these codes mean together
When U0100 + U0122 appear at the same time, the cause is almost always CANBUS instability, most commonly from:
  • Weak battery (even if it “reads 12V”)
  • Loose negative ground strap at the frame
  • Loose battery terminals
  • Vibration‑shaken connectors (Spyder RTs are known for this)
  • Water intrusion after washing or rain
On Spyders, one bad connection can trigger a cascade of U‑codes.

Can anyone help me determine what these fault codes indicate please..?
That's funny - up above. A DEF system on a Spyder. And for purposes of accuracy - Spyder Codes might be in SAE FORMAT, but they are only partially standard SAE/OBD-2 code definitions. Stay off of Google.

- P20EB - Main Relay De-energizing too late or sticking. Check or replace the relay. I'd just replace it. More time and cost effective. It might be just a red herring because of your bigger problem. But check it out. Relays are the square, black things in the fuse boxes. The Main Relay is the large one in the lower, left corner of the Left Side Fuse Box. Left side as you are sitting on it. You can pull it, take it to an autoparts store, and match it up.

- U0100 and U0122 - Your transmission Control Module (TCM) has lost all CANBUS communications with both the ECM and the VCM. All CANBUS ID's are lost. Almost as though the fuse has blown or it came unplugged..

First thing is to make sure it's not unplugged, fuse is good, and to hook up to BUDS and try to check the TCM. So, there's a whole lot of continuity checks that are way too much to go into here that would involve unplugging the ECM/VCM/TCM connectors. That's a big pain.

Bottom line, what is your drivability issue? Does it shift? What started all of this? Did you recently add something electrical or pressure wash the thing? Start with what you can check like a battery in poor health or bad terminal connections. Load test it. Check the TCM fuse. Don't assume that your TCM has gone belly up just yet. Without BUDS, about the best you could do is go over your battery and electrical system thoroughly in order to make sure that it's not just a system voltage issue. Eliminate the relay issue. Pull panels and check for critter damage. Sorry, but good luck. Hope it's simple.
