• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

My Cruise control won't allow me to accelerate just by twisting the throttle - Is this normal?

My 2015 F3S won't accelerate when twisting the throttle if the cruise is engaged. I have to shut the cruise off, then twist the throttle. In my experience, that could be bad in certain situations, like trying to avoid a car drifting into your lane.

I thought that was what was happening to mine on my last trip. I finally rotated the throttle far enough to go past the cruise speed to pass another vehicle and when I released the throttle it went right back to the set cruise speed.

As @Snoking1127 & @Mrmikey have sorta alluded above, we've had a few here who didn't realise that you have to roll the throttle on enough that you take it past where it was when you set the cruise control speed before you'll start accelerating any faster than that set speed - could that be what's happening here?

You can try it to see if it's that simply by finding a bit of road where you can set cruise and ride safely for a while, only when you set the cruise speed, don't release the throttle, just lightly hold it in the same place. Then once you can feel that it's actually the set cruise speed controlling the Spyder's speed, try rolling on more throttle to see if it accelerates then. 😏

If it does, then it's normal and all is working the way it was designed - you just have to roll the throttle on enough to go PAST the speed where it was when you set it, which is effectively what all cruise controls do. ;)

Please get back to us and tell us how this goes. (y)

It should go up, but if you want it to go slower than the set speed, then yes, you have to kick it out, either by tapping your brake or hitting your switch in the down position.

.... either by tapping your brake....
I tap the brake to disengage it, I leave the cruise on all the time. I will say tho, unless you give it a bit of throttle to get it in the approximate current speed position before tapping the brake, the slowdown is quite fast. If you have to stop in a hurry that's no big deal but a bit disconcerting if you're intent was to decelerate slowly.

Fly by wire, no mechanical throttle linkage to right twist grip.
This might be my first bike with ride by wire. I had a 13 Goldwing Bagger and a Victory Cross Roads with cruise control, but I don't remember having an issue with twisting the throttle and going immediately.
