Any hints/help for Installing a Garmin XT3 Zumo on a Spyder?

Hi Everyone

I would very much like to install my Garmin XT3 on my 2026 Sea to Sky so that it turns on with the key and off with the key. I have been trying to find out how this is done, but I have not found anything yet in a step by step guide and on what, if any, parts I might need.

Has anyone done this, and if so, can you help with this? I can take it to the dealer, but it seems to be decently simple and I would rather not have to spend the money.

The new Spyders do not provide switched power sources for GPS's etc. You will need to install a relay to power the GPS off the battery and find a source to pull the relay when the key is turned on. Hopefully someone will be along to help you with a switched source to activate the relay.

I added a powered docking station to my 2024 Spyder RT Sea 2 Sky that I bought from Slingmods.com.
It was originally so I could mount and power a Garmin Zumo XT to the handlebars.
The listing says it works on 2026 Spyder RTs

There's a link to the installation instructions on the website. It takes power from the accessory power port on the front right side of the bike. It's a pain to get too, as it requires removing a lot of the body panels.

Here's what it looks installed.
The round cover on the left has two USB ports, the cover on the right has a round "cigarette lighter" type socket.



Here's what it looks like installed with a Garmin mount dock mounted on the ball:



The accessory power port uses fuse 6 in the Right Fuse Box, which in the Operators Guide is identified as "GPS_Acc".

So, now that that's out of the way, the switched GPS power port exists on the right hand side - as you're sitting on it - of the bike. As was said, powered from the 5a fuse F6 in the Right Side fuse box - as you're sitting on it. The F7 slot is empty on purpose. To access the power lead, here's a video from Rick demonstrating how to remove that one right side panel that is a pain.

Now, Rick sells his own accessory connection, but I like the one Lamonster sells better. The connectors are demonstrated in the WAGO video above. Plus I like the fact that the main connector is made to clip right into the Spyder's connector anchor.

You can then just connect the harness that comes with the Garmin to the WAGO connector and wrap it all up nice and neat. Easy-Peasy. Follow and tie wrap the Garmin harness to an existing harness up to the handlebars so that they don't get chafed over time as the handlebars move back and forth. There has been one occasion where the fuse in F6 was faulty from the factory. If that GPS power source connector appears dead, make sure that you check the fuse.
