• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

battery tender question

I have a battery tender junior. Can some electrical whiz tell me for sure, when you unplug junior from the wall outlet but leave the battery connected to junior, will there be a drain on the battery? I thought not; but, the light on junior remains ON, which means there probably is still a circuit energized.

Here's why I need to know. I live in an apt. complex and have a rented garage. Any outlets in the garages are on the apt. complex's meter. I was caught when I left the spyder connected one day.

If I had just the spyder connected to a battery tender, there's no problem b/c I disconnect at the wall outlet and the powerlet on the spyder's dash. It becomes a pain for the car; I don't want to disconnect at the car battery each and every day, if I don't have to. I ask now b/c the car will be put to sleep for the winter months.

If the light remains on, the unit is drawing power. Hard to say how much, but it is probably a very tiny amount. It will eventually deplete the battery, unless you remember to recharge periodically. I would attach an appropriate pigtail to the car battery, so you can readily disconnect the entire thing when not in use.

If it is a tiny amount, then what I will do is disconnect at the wall outlet only each morning before I leave for work and then plug back in when I return.

that sucks that you cant leave the spyder plugged in during the daytime... its trikle charging so not drawing much power anyway once plugged in and topped off the battery charge.

you should have got the small cable on the bottom right of the pic below. it direct wires to your battery terminals. then you snake the wire someplace to easy access when you want to plug in.

then you could easily plug and unplug BOTH ends of the battery tender. the power wall plug AND the Spyder plug to that pigtale cable that is hard wired to the Spyder battery

Thanks, you just reminded me that I have a 25' battery tender cable connector. Since I already have the pigtail connected to the car battery I'll add the 25' one. This way I don't have to pop the hood.
