I know it is a ridiculous question, but the two really aren't related...Are you pushing the key down before you turn it?
OK, the potentially embarrasing stuff is out of the way. The seat is probably a combination of things. If the latch pin is adjusted too short, the seat doesn't want to open. Press down hard wher the pin is on the right front portion of the seat, or slam with your hand, while the key is turned. If yoy get it open, adjust the pin and lube the latch. The pin may also be too far forward or backward. Tyry grabbing the seat and wiggling it while the key is turned.
As to the trunk, is there anything in it pressing against the lid? If not cargo, it could still be the wetaher strip that has come loose, or a trunk liner that is loose or improperly installed. Same cure...try to press down over the latch or bang on the lid while turning the key. A second person helps.
Two different release cables, different directions on the key, you have two problems, not one, unless there is a real odd problem at the switch.
