Cruzr Joe question about Challenger

Cruzr Joe,

In a previous thread you mentioned you thought about the purchase of a 2012 Challenger. Did you happen to test the Pentastar V6 or only one of the two hemi's in the Challenger? I previously had a 2006 Charger with the 5.7 hemi. Currently I have a Honda Cross Tour and the lease runs out this August. I'm leaning more toward the Charger than Challenger and I've read good things about the Pentastar V6 with the 8 speed auto. I realize the performance will be less than the 5.7; but, I'm wondering if you've had actual experience with the V6?

Thanks

No real experience with the challenger, just liked it and thought about getting one and then i got bit by a spyder

I have a 2011 challenger with the Penstar motor and love it...Its as fast or faster than alot of the old school high performance V8 cars I used to have. I also have a 2012 Jeep jku with the penstar motor, I love it too, but no where near as fast.

a while back, I was car shopping since my lease was coming due on the vehicle I had.

my brother was with me (just in case I turned in my lease car and didnt make a decision on another vehicle)

we went from dealer to dealer looking at vehicles (the Nissam Murano Cabriolet, the Lexus convertible, an Audi 6 convertible), and then we got to the Chrysler/Dodge dealer... I test drove the 200 convertible, and while it was a nice car, it was also a very bland car (imho), looked at the 300 but wasnt impressed, and then i saw a Challenger and asked to take it for a spin

my brother was at the other end of the lot waiting for me and I pulled up in the Challenger and waved my brother over to get in - we took it for a drive and i really liked the car, but in the back of my mind, there was a little voice screaming 'mid-life crisis/penis-mobile)......

got back to the dealership and said I would think about it - at this point my brother said when I pulled up to him in the lot I had a huge sh*t-eaten grin on my face

well, I ended up getting a Cadillac CTS (hey, I'm a ex-NY Jew in Florida and I figured this was the car I'm supposed to drive since I am retired in Florida... lol

but here I am a year later and I still find myself scanning the Chrysler/Dodge lot every time I drive by it thinking..... Challenger..... yummmmmm

lookerjdc,

Which engine was in the Challenger that you test drove?

My brother who has one of the first year Challenger SRT8's is more into them than I. I had a 1970 Challenger 440, 6 pack. I may give them another look.:dontknow:

Then, the next question is= Is it true that the Pentastar, 8 speed auto with AWD is almost a second quicker from 0-60? I found that on the internet on a dealer's website.

I was planning to go but then my brother reminded me that I promised to baby sit his house and 2 x Labradors cause he is going to be out of town....

but, that could change if his schedule changes..... I am hanging on to my reservation at the Microtel

@wyliec, I think the Challenger had the stock engine - I know it didnt have the Hemi.... lol.... when I was younger I had a 280z and would test the speedometer quite frequently.....

I had a 69 Barracuda formula "S" with the 340 and i could smoke a set of rear tires, but i kept blowing out the freeze plugs, a real cool car with the Fastback.

I test drove a 2013 Challenger (today) with 5 speed auto and Pentatstar and a 2013 Charger with Pentastar and 8 speed auto and AWD. The Charger seemed quicker; I think the tranny had something to do with it and it also felt more solid to me. Leased it.
