Can Am Spyder Apron

In Europe, the scooter community makes use of "aprons" during the winter months.

It seems to me this might also work on the RT-S having ridden in the cold I thought it might be worth looking into. I'm posting this to see if others would be interested in something like this if it was available.

I wonder if perhaps just a good set of snowmobile bibs might not be more effective? :dontknow:
My reasoning:
That apron looks pretty thin... I wonder if having it flapping around in the breezes might be an issue?
Attaching it to the bike? :shocked: Call me a coward; but I'd rather not mess with how much of a grip those panels have to the frame of the bike.

Carhartt insulated bibs work for me and they don't flap in the wind.

I've never looked at them as an option...
Living in snowmobiling country; I always had cold-weather gear lying around that needed another season's worth of use!

Its 100% waterproof, 210- denier Hypertex™; 120-gram polyester insulation; full storm flap closures on zippers, pockets and cuffs; cargo storage pockets; elasticized ankle closures and adjustable waist. I'm 6'2", 290 lbs, fat as hell, and the 3x is big enough to fit over my summer riding gear so I still have "road rash" protection.

Yes, I too have an older ski bib too. I used to ride with it in the winter.

I thought this would not only work but actually streamline the bike a bit too.... I don't know if it would flap too much; much depends on how it is anchored to the bike. I suppose it would be no worse than the scooter.

I may play with this but it would be on the back burner.

Hayfield, how does your 3X fit? I'm 6'4" 295lbs. and I ordered the 2X and it fits perfect but a little tight around my gut. I was worried about the 3X being too large and baggy.

I saw those in Europe on scooters alot. Kept the commuters looking nice after riding through rain mist. Saw ladies using them when they were in business attire too. Don't know about highway speed long distance riding...

I seen them from back in the 1960. Most were hand made. They worked, I road a friends bike in the winter and under 40 mph they kept me warm on a 25 deg. F. day.

Will do. I think I'd have to mock up something that I could take somewhere to have it made. I might be able to integrate the output (of the radiator) into it to give some heat. The scooter aprons do and the heat is appreciated.

I have heard it said that there might be a little heat available from the right hand side radiator... :shocked:

It is a little baggy with just street clothes under it . . . but I can wear my summer riding gear under it, a Joe Rocket vented jacket and pants, so if I did go down, I'd have some protection . . . which is why I went for the 3XL. I'm going to ryde all winter, as long as the roads are dry, and while we do get snow, it usually is gone in a day or so.
