I was fortunate enough yesterday to stop an SUV that decided not to stop at the stop light I stopped at.:banghead: It appeared to only be cosmetic damage. I got knocked around three to four feet. The problem I have is with the drive belt. It is now all over the rear pulley. I had never seen this before yesterday. The belt was always next to the wheel side of the pulley. I am meeting with the insurance adjuster in the morning. Along with getting the cosmetic damage taken care of, I am going for a complete inspection by my dealer. I was not hit square and have a really good feeling after a 500 mile ride, the bike is out of alignment. I am looking for any addition advice.

There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

this may be drastic measure, but if the insurance company can be convinced the frame is warped, etc. they might total out the bike and give you the $$ for a new one????

First off I am glad you are alright and semmingly minor cosmetic damage is present, a full frame, swingarm and front end alignment check is needed. Not knowing the point or points of impact makes it hard to determine areas affected. But I would have it all checked well....:lecturef_smilie:

Could be the rear tire got knocked out of alignment from the side or the frame and or swing arm is bent. Have it checked out closely. Taking off the Tupperware for a look might show something.

If the impact was just to the tire; you should have the belt alignment and swingarm condition checked over with a fine-toothed comb.
If that doesn't solve the problem; the next things to check would be the swingarm pivot, and the frame.
A bent frame is not necessarily the "Kiss of Death" for a Spyder...
I had one replaced, rode the bike for two more seasons, and it is still happily piling up miles for it's new owner.

Glad you are OK . . . but see your doc, just in case . . . sometimes, things don't manifest, immediately. Also, make sure the adjuster understands that the final word about damages is from the dealer's tech, not the adjuster, since only one of the two is trained on Spyders! Don't sign any agreements until the dealer's tech has spoken as to what is and isn't damaged . . .

It's a 2014 RTL. The left saddlebag took the hit. It still opens, closes and latches fine. I was just really surprised to see the belt move around on the rear pulley, when I had not seen that before.
I will keep everyone posted on how things turn out.

Don't try to diagnose it on your own, bring it to the dealer & let the insurance & them figure it out. find out if they will pay for a
rental.
