• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

The Morning Thread

The first day of my retirement today and I still woke up real early, I guess it's going to take a while for my body to recover from working nights for the last couple of years.
Worked nights most of my life. Been retired since 2005. I never went back to days fully. Now I am awake as much in the middle of the nights as the days. Never tried to change back to a specific time to do anything. If I can't sleep at night, I read the news or read a book. Got really good lights in the shop and I can work in there at night. Don't even attempt to sleep until I feel sleepy. Working nights was sometimes a choice for me. It is cooler at night and not so many people around trying to tell me what to do.

Very interesting to say about the video.
What makes this type of craft move?
Invisible rope to the ski boat...
I do like that ^ answer, but given the lack of wake or disturbance in the water ahead of it and the angle of plane that it's on, I suspect that it's more likely a small, direct drive motor pushing it along; probably something in that dark mass which is just visible under the seat. ;)

Back in my youth/ancient history, we used to make up all sorts of things like that for the various local ski shows - chairs on skis or surfboards that'd do impossible things; kids ride-on toy cars on skimmer boards that'd suddenly overtake the ski-boat that, until then, had apparently been towing them, and then it'd run rings around the boat or play 'chasey' as the boat tried to get the kids toy back onto the end of the tow rope; 'high-speed' paddle boards that'd seemingly move without the person on them actually doing any paddling - all novelty stuff to keep the viewing public entertained. But they hadta actually BE THERE to watch/see all of this fantastic stuff, none of this staying at home and watching it on a small screen waaay back then!

I highly suspect that viedo is AI produced. The wake of that craft doesn't look real. Pretty cool anyway. Peter, you reminded me of a memory from long ago. My folks had a beach cabin on Whidbey Island when I was a kid. In addition to water skiis we had 2 saucers. They were 4' diameter 3/4 in plywood. Painted and with about an 18 inch diameter non-skid surface in the middle. Couldn't go fast with them but could do all kinds of tricks. Like taking a chair and sitting down while cruising along. Then came a more advanced maneuver of standing on the chair behind the boat. They had playing card suits painted on them and doubled at night as a card table when put on top of a box.....

I don't know what makes it go. Just made that up. I'm more familiar with wake boards around here. Whatever he is doing, the game patrol would give him a ticket and a fine to pay for not wearing a flotation vest.

Pretty sure I meet the person who originally posted this thread many years ago at the
Southern Cruisers Annual Rally in Mexico Beach, Florida. Some of the chapters in Georgia
used to ride down and join the Florida Chapters there. There would be about 400 attending
every year riding most any brand of bikes. The Rallies ended when Hurricane Michael hit
Mexico Beach in 2018, destroying the largest hotel and most everything else in town, as well
as all the highways along the panhandle coast. It took years to build back and repair the roads.
