• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. Any Mounting bracket and switched power tips for mounting a Garmin Zumo XT2 GPS?

I recently purchased a 2022 RT Ltd and am looking for any installation tips regarding the Garmin Zumo XT2, which is currently enroute. Any info on mounting hardware and wiring would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Bob

I had one like this on my 2024 Spyder RT S2S with a Garmin Zumo XT GPS before CAN-AM got Apple CarPlay to work.
It is wired into the accessory power port to provide power for any GPS.

There's a link on the page to the installation instructions in Acrobat PDF format.

This is the XT mounted on my 2022 RTL handlebar and wired to accessory connection on right side Works great.

On my '22 RTL, I mounted it between the handlebars. I used the Lamonster F3 and 2020+ GPS Mount. I had to change the small mount bracket on the Lamonster Mount to the bracket included in the XT2 to allow for power connection to the back of the XT2. I dropped the power line to the accessory connection on the right as RealWing did. It was an easy install.

I also added the one from Slingmods.com as it also had provisions to mount my XM antenna. I am using an older 665 as it supports XM radio, but the installation is the same.

Lamonster LG-1086 Mount, Sling Mods Switched Accessory Power Harness, 2" Ram Mount Extension. Ram mount extension moves GPS into my line of site, directly beneath the instrument panel so I don't have to move my head to see the GPS. Don't forget a safety tether for the unit.

How do you like that seat cover??? Does it help with butt comfort on long rides! Where did you get it?

Mikey,

The cover is an Alaska Leather Sheepskin. Have used them for many years on multiple bikes. Excellent products that are worth the price. It's part of a "Frankenstein" cover/cushion that consists of the sheepskin, a large AirHawk pad, and foam layers that add 3-5" of height to the seat. (Thickness varies based on number of foam layers and AirHawk inflation). I am 6'-5" with 36" inseam, and this configuration combined with Lamonster bar risers and a windscreen air diverter makes the RTL all day comfortable.

The sheepskin by itself does help with comfort and temp control. On all of my bikes (sport, sport touring, ADV, naked standard), the Sheepskin/AirHawk combo has added hours to my daily ride times, provided adjustability, and at a cost way less than an aftermarket seat.
