A Noncurrent 2022 F3S Won Me Over

I have belonged to a variety of forums, so forgive me if I just skip the intro. I have bought several Spyders, always (like many here) because I was concerned about my diminishing physical abilities. Then I would get frustrated that it wasn’t a motorcycle (and, yes, I know the definition of doing the same thing repeatedly and expecting a different outcome). So, I have gone back and forth a dozen times. My final experience on 2 wheels was pleasant, but I was finally convinced. Talked to a sales manager friend, who runs a large, multi-line dealership and he had a 2022 demo still on the floor, with about 1000 kms (600 miles) on it. We quickly struck a deal, and I rode home on the F3S. It’s a fine machine.

I’m grateful to have found a pleasant group to belong to, and I have already picked up some helpful info. Sadly, I won’t be able to contribute any technical stuff since I am mechanically inept. I’m Canadian and spent many enjoyable winters in Florida, so it was easy to purchase parts and accessories and bring them home. Now, having to spend my winters in the Great White North, it’s not so simple.
Again, thank you for accepting me. I’m glad to be here. Of course, at 87 I’m glad to be anywhere...

I’ve always loved that pic… and thanks for the kind words… I don’t know who the two old guys are, but they are an inspiration
I had a friend who constructed racing sidecars… he told me that his first experience was as a monkey at Kyalami circuit in South Africa and he was so busy waving to his friends he didn’t hang on tightly enough when the rider applied the considerable braking force… his race ended at that point as he parted company with the rig.

Agree about the panniers, my wife did ride with me when I had an RT, but that was a few years ago, and now she feels a bit exposed on the back, so I ride solo

Yes, I’ve belonged to a few motorcycle forums and if I’m not the oldest, it’s close… I usually point out that getting old is a privilege denied to many…. I actually ride with some motorcycle guys, and one fellow just turned 90… he rides a Burgman 650, the big scooter, and goes like the proverbial bat out of hell!

To @pegasus1300, @AndysF3S, and @Mikey, thank you all for the welcome.
The only things I’ve done so far is to set the foot pegs rearward to position 1, and I added a couple of bar end mirrors.
I had a Ryker which allowed you to simply slide both pegs back and forth easily, but on the F3S you have to buy a shorter rod for the brake pedal mechanism. Now that I think about it, I have no idea how the Ryker did that, but it can remain one of life’s little mysteries…
As I mentioned elsewhere, I’m riding with my former motorcycle friends, and the F3S has no difficulty maintaining the usual brisk pace. We ride on county roads for a couple of hours, stop for a late breakfast/brunch, then ride home by the most circuitous route available.
