• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

    Highway pegs..pics please?

I have a short inseam and went with the Kewlmetal brackets. I originally used the Iso-Wing pedals and KW extension links but rejected both as they tended to pivot under pressure. I now use Kury straight pegs and the KW adapter fastened directly to the KW bracket. I can, and do, stand on these.

Do you cruise it , or pound it ?

    If I was a cruiser, I'd have an RT. But I ain't, so I don't!

    cleaning the spyder

The only water that touches my ryde is rain. I use Plexus and micro fiber rags on all the plastic parts and Mr. Moto Quick Polish One Step Detailer with wiping rags on all the metal parts. I find stripping all the panels ( which are fastened mostly by Dzus) allows me to clean things thoroughly...

    Grease front end

The usual problem is air lock. You want to be sure solid grease is getting to the plunger, so you want a gun that has some means of purging air at the top of the gun. Try holding the gun upside down a shaking it to force the grease toward the plunger, this sometimes works. Sometimes it helps to...

    Twisties

I'll be 70 next birthday, but I live for the twisties, and the tighter the better! I find the superslab a boring chore and seek out the winding backroads where ever I can. That's why I have only a one inch riser on my ryde and I use a stock seat, the better to butt shift with. I feel the best...

    Grease front end

I greased the suspension yesterday. Following Helipit's advice, I bought a pistol grip gun and, yes, it certainly helps. Another thing I did was to exchange my 2 joined gun regular flex hoses for 2 hoses of the slender variety, joined together with a 1/8 NPT coupling.I find that these changes...

    Grease front end

I had a similar problem. I found that by using 2 flexible rubber grease gun hose extensions, rather than one, I could place the body of the gun against the floor, operate the lever with my right hand and hold the adapter in position on the nipple with my left. This seemed to help to get the...

    Grease front end

What worked for me was to change the 2 upper rearmost fittings to 90 degree nipples, and I use a 90 degree grease gun adapter for the remaining 6 nipples.

    riding style and shock setting

I did the same mods, and got the same results as DynamoBT did, on my 2008 GS. Stock Spyders wallow in the twisties, IMHO.

    Front Brakes Locked

I have seen this "one-way" effect before, although in automobiles. The brake hose looked fine from the outside but had deteriorated on the inside to the point where fluid could be forced in with the pedal, but would not flow back out, which locked the brakes. Cured by hose replacement. Could be...

    Nighty-Night Spydee

Surely you jest, Dragonrider! I live in the Northwest and ride all year, baring snow, which we don't get much of. There are lots of nice days among the rainy ones. And if it does rain, that's what rain gear is for ( don't leave home without it!). Hey, we're West Coasters! It's not like we're...

    OREGON COAST

I just rode to and from Spyders in the Redwoods along the Pacific Coast Highway, Thru WA, OR and Northern CA, from BC. Great scenery and good roads all the way. The wind can blow off the ocean in Oregon pretty good so hang on, lol. What else would you like to know?

    As a new intrested owner

I bought a 2008 GS-SE5 new and had a few issues early on, but they were resolved on BRP's dime. Since then, many miles of trouble-free riding. And when Spyder riders meet, it seems instant friendships happen, which is something I did not see as much on the other makes I have owned.

What do i need to ride to Canada?

Been riding in Canada all my life, never packed a weapon of any kind. Don't know anybody who does. Seems a strange fixation, but may be necessary some places, I guess.

Thanks, Joe, for a great Oyster Run!

It was nice to see some familiar faces and a bunch of new ryders, too. Thought I was going to get blown sideways off the road over the canal coming from Anacortes! I met Chillicp ( Bruce) and Rose by chance on the road home and we rode together to the Canadian border, which is where the serious...

    Body screws

Forget 'em. Replace them with 14 mm Dzus fasteners available at Kurveygirl.com. You'll be able to peel your plastic faster than a hungry monkey peels a banana.

    RS - Throttle Lock

Yeah, I was doing something similar with a large rubber band from the grip to my drink holder. The band finally busted and I bought the Kaoko, lol. These tricks work in a pinch, though.

    RS - Throttle Lock

I got Kaoko Spy-cruise from Custom Dynamics, one of our sponsors. Took maybe 15 minutes to install and adjust, and that's with Grip Puppies on the bars. Works great, looks OK, $110. I find I can operate it easily, one-handed, even with riding gauntlets on.

    Picture post!

I took my wife on a ride to the farm of Kevin Stone, a sculptor/ welder in Chilliwack, BC. Kevin works in stainless steel, and I like his creations.

First Big Trip Completed - Two Days Around the Olympic Peninsula

We stopped at Shelton, visited Aberdeen and took both the Kingston and the Port Townsend ferries on our way to and from Spyders in the Redwoods. Washington is certainly a beautiful state. I want to do the Olympic Penisula loop soon, too. Hope to see you at the Oyster Run, Radguy, and at the...
