• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Boiling fuel, hot legs & feet, melted boot glue & passive limp home modes

Not brake reservoirs... Master Brake Cylinder. It's on the right side all the way down near the brake pedal, right behind the exhaust. For some people these aren't just toys, they're primary transportation. Being without it for weeks while BRP considers their options (ignore it, bandaid...

ST-L heat problems and my concerns

2600 on mine when the brake cylinder melted. 1400 on another ST I know of. 800 on a 2013 RT. Then there's at least 2 more on the forums here (don't know mileage.) It goes usually after a long trip. Outside temp doesn't seem to matter (mine was around 80F when it went. Previous day was...

ST-L heat problems and my concerns

You're not alone. BRP will be issuing a fix for this "soon".

    DO YOU BELIEVE IN KARMA????

I'm hoping they do more than come up with a different plastic part that won't melt as easily... and address some of the heat concerns at the same time.

Boiling fuel, hot legs & feet, melted boot glue & passive limp home modes

The ST's seem to have a big air intake under the headlights already. (mine's still in the shop with a melted master cylinder or I'd take pictures)

    DO YOU BELIEVE IN KARMA????

Just an update: Talked to BRP today. They have a special team handling these melting master cylinder caps who will be calling people who have the problem. The problem applies to all 2013's and it's likely it will be a widespread replacement issued for these (or a recall as it is safety related.)

Boiling fuel, hot legs & feet, melted boot glue & passive limp home modes

When you remove the cap, and it's boiling, what does it do? Do you just hear it? smell it? see it? Just curious. I've only ever heard it sizzling away and never thought much of it. Never smelled anything or saw anything spurt out... I just dump cold gasoline on top of it and it shuts up...

Test drove a 2013 RT and a 2013 ST, question about the RT handling

Can't say I agree that a 2013 RT should handle as well as a 2013 ST... the RT is several inches taller which moves the center of gravity higher changing the length of the forces leveraging against the suspension which is trying to maintain equal force across the tire ground contact patches to...

I wonder how many ST's with heat issues have fog lights installed instead of the open air intakes...

    DO YOU BELIEVE IN KARMA????

Same thing happened to me at the owners event... cept just before getting on the dragon. Take a look at your master brake cylinder, there's a plastic cap on it. Look on the front, facing your exhaust pipe (which is probably black from burnt brake fluid). Press down on the brake pedal and look...

ST-L heat problems and my concerns

106 is the air temp. 4 bars is your engine temp, which is peachy. It means your cooling system is working great. You said you got a High Engine Temp orange message on the LCD? Definitely take it to the dealer. 4 bars is not "high engine temp" so that message doesn't mean what we think it...

OEM FOX Adjustable Shock Kit with Sway Bar vs BajaRon

Jury is still out on that one. Here's what I've gathered from other spyder lovers. If you had a stock GS/RS/RT and move to any 2013, you're going to LOVE it. If you had a modified RT (sway bar, elkas etc) you might be OK with stock but might want to look at BajaRon's Swaybar. If you had a...

    Bad Vibrations, certain speeds only.

A damaged belt could vibrate too... or it would be bearings *cringe* It's definitely something not normal and unfortunately it won't be quick for a dealer to diagnose or repair. They might be able to diagnose it, order parts and give it back while waiting on parts so you won't lose all the time.

ST-L heat problems and my concerns

No matter what the temp outside, your engine should not overheat. If it does, there's something wrong with the cooling system or possibly a fueling issue. This is definitely something the dealer should check out. You might have a fan problem or something gunking up your coolant. When you got...

    Not sure what caused this....

I don't understand why anyone would think BRP had anything to do with the plastic bag statement. Somebody saw a plastic bag. At best, it was the dealer who said that. At worst, it was just made up by the reporter. I doubt anyone from BRP corporate headquarters was anywhere near the scene to...

ST-L heat problems and my concerns

The gas tank is actually vented into an evaporation canister which is then vented to atmosphere eventually. But you were talking about a hot gas cap. That's just convection heat from the over under the tupperware. To reduce any of this heat you either need to vent it out somewhere (like they...

    Bad Vibrations, certain speeds only.

On my GS I noticed harmonic vibrations from the belt at certain speeds but it never bothered me... the GS vibrated all over the place anyhow. The ST vibrates much less in the handle bars and seat... so when you hit those magic speeds where the belt starts it's nasty vibration, you notice it a...

ST-L heat problems and my concerns

I have noticed a lot of heat escaping through the handlebar base vents they added in the 2013 models... I'm not sure heat from there is a sign of a problem. I think this was an intentional design to let the heat chimney out vertically when the bike is not moving or turned off (err, hopefully...

    Not sure what caused this....

Er... yes but mine didn't go up in flames... tho I suppose it could have if the brake fluid caught fire. After looking at the master cylinder tho, the top of it is plastic, and it melted and warped enough to leak from the heat of the exhaust pipe which is about 1-2" from it. Which brings a...
