• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

    Week before Sturgis?

I'm only about 20-30 minutes from your I-24 route in Southern Illinois. I could actually give you a much prettier, less traffic congested alternate route through Southern Illinois that would take you right through Murphysboro where I live - home of the World Famous 17th Street Bar-b-que. It's...

It's been fun, but time for change.

Congratulations on a great bike - sometimes the urge to lean just kicks in! The Multistrada is one of my husband's favorites, along with the Hypermotard just for the thrill every now and then. I just started riding my new Diavel in the last two weeks (getting over a broken leg during which...

    Spyder riding is on hold

Ooooohhhh, you're right. Next time I'm tempted to clean my Spyder I'm going to remember your tale of pain and just ryde, not clean! (I do that mostly anyway - now I have a reason:2thumbs:).

    Spyder riding is on hold

So sorry to hear of your accident - hope things go well quickly. Speaking from the experience of breaking my right leg in February, you will find that you are much more invested in doing PT with the idea of getting back on the Spyder quicker! No joke - on the days that I was tempted to fluff...

    3 or 2

Once again, it's deja vu all over again! I had pretty much composed in my head the exact posting that Scotty made. We, too, have multiple bikes in our garage - eight, though, not double digits like Scotty! All are fairly new Ducati's, BMW's, Triumph's and then the Spyder. As a new rider...

    Nature and Traveling

I run a Garmin GPS with Doppler radar feature - gives you real time weather right on your navigation screen. Several times being able to see a storm front approaching and seeing how it was developing would allow us to catch a different side road and skirt around a bad situation by only going 15...

    OK...So I'm a Whimp!

Awww, you know it's true love when you give your Spyder 11' and you take 5' - that's truly sweet! But seriously, that is really a nice set-up. There have been many days when my husband and I were out on day 10 or 12 and it's rained for 5 days straight that you have to begin to seriously wonder...

    Broken arm update

BikeMike: Sounds like your wife needs to brush up on her Spyder driving skills - then she can get you out as a passenger! Good luck with your surgery and sending prayers for a quick and full recovery.

    Huligan Wannabee

I think my surgeon is designing some kind of "huligan" t-shirt for me.... I am still in boot/walking cast with my broken leg and can't drive a car yet because of no flexibility in my ankle with the cast. BUT I can ride the Spyder now since I can put some weight on my foot at this point -at...

$133 for a replacement key?!? WTF

Three of our Ducati's are like that, too - except the key fob has to be a bit closer than that. At 6', you could, theoretically, start your bike with key laying on the work bench and then be in big trouble when you need to gas up (or stop/start) later in the ride! We ended up springing for...

    To Alaska and Back...

Hope you're having a good day, Yazz. Your posts give me something to look forward to checking every day. (Haven't seen your new hair-do yet since all your pictures have been of rain/cold riding with your helmet on - still waiting! :doorag:)

    MY BAD LUCK

Hope you're coping with the broken arm. I'm sitting home from Spyderfest with my broken leg so I can truly understand how you feel. Good luck with the healing!

    Spyderfest 2011- Tuesday

I agree - if you can't be there, seeing some of these great pictures takes some of the pain away. Now if I could just make the pain in my leg go away!

    Room(s) for Spyderfest?

Thanks, Deb. I'm definitely going to be back on the Spyder - actually sooner than I can drive a car, I believe. I've spoken with my surgeon and explained how the Spyder brake works. I can't drive a car for the months that I have to wear this boot/cast because it's really thick and rigid. But...

    Spyderfest 2011 Info and check-in

Lamont, I need to remove my name from the attendees list. Doctor saw me today and my broken leg needs some additional attention ASAP so I'm not going to be able to make this year's fun. Jane

    Room(s) for Spyderfest?

Thought I'd bump this thread back to the top for those still needing a room. I saw another thread saying Wagon Wheel still has one room with two beds. I am calling Super 8 to cancel my ground floor non-smoking room with parking directly outside door and outside access since my doctor tells me...

    Sypder+Helmet 1 Turkey 0

Glad you survived to tell the tale and sorta laugh about it. I've hit two ducks in flight in two different incidents (might be why I ride DUCati's ??) and almost ran over one pheasant without going down but it sure gets your heart to pumping. One duck hit me in the shoulder in the late fall -...

    I'm an idiot

My husband taught Cinema & Photography at SIU for 31 years and each May he would invite the whole department, students and faculty, to the house for a bar-b-que/get together. He didn't mention this practice until after I married him 13 years ago in January. That April he mentioned that we'd be...

    the new BMW K 1600

As a small woman with short legs but BIG riding dreams, I moan every time another great bike like the BMW comes out - too tall, too heavy for me to safely ride. But you might take a look at the new Ducati Diavel if you're dreaming of a smooth, powerful bike. I've got one on order and my...

    I'm open to advice...

Like Scotty (Nancy's Toy) I haven't really given up riding since I first started in high school (40 + years ago). BUT I have had lots of convertibles through the years, too, and currently have a hardtop Mercedes SLK sitting in the garage that I haven't driven in I can't remember when. I also...
