• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

OK...So I'm a Whimp!

I know, I know the proper way to attend the Maggie Valley is to Ryde. But circumstances may require us to make a trip to Wisconsin after the rally and we thought, why not take the Spyder? So we purchased this little 16' toy hauler. It has over 11' of garage and 5' of house. What do ya think?
The first two pictures were from the dealer's lot before I restriped it.

How about some pictures showing the Spyder loaded up ?

:thumbup::thumbup: Nice rig! I have never seen one that light, with an indoors shower and kitchen. Probably still to heavy to tow with my F-150 2WD Supercab, but we are getting closer.

Scotty. Any F150 can tow this toybox. Even with the Spyder onboard plus gear we are under 6K. Let's talk in Maggie Valley.

Do not worry what anyone thinks on how you get your Spyder where you are going.

EXACTLY! Do it the way you want to do it. You may get a bit of frienly ribbing but we all get that for one thing or another.

Getting there is all that really matters.

I think it looks great...good job...and this is coming from someone who would never trailer a bike...that's a really nice looking trailer...quite functional!

My motto: if you don't ride it there, don't ride it there...

:agree: He is right. Mine weighs less than 6000 lbs also. It's rated for 7500 lbs. But I tow it with this ... The best truck ever made.nojoke That is my old Honda CBR 900rr next to it.

Looking forward to seeing it at Maggie Valley. Still pushing the 6,900 pound limit for my F-150. I don't like to haul that close to the rating. Wrecked a good truck that way once.

As long as you have the electric brake controller in your truck you will be fine. You have 1000 lbs to spare.

Awww, you know it's true love when you give your Spyder 11' and you take 5' - that's truly sweet! But seriously, that is really a nice set-up. There have been many days when my husband and I were out on day 10 or 12 and it's rained for 5 days straight that you have to begin to seriously wonder if this is all it's cracked up to be. More and more we discuss the merits of trailering to a wonderful site and then riding each day from a central location. That's a really nice way to do it!

I just had my Ford dealer install the in dash brake controller. It works perfectly and I highly recommend it to any one owning "The Best Selling Vehicle" in the world.
:firstplace:

I have a brake controller on my truck. I don't like to use any large trailer without brakes...even if it is not required. Even my single-axle, 1,200 lb, 3,000 GVWR cargo trailer has been fitted with brakes. Some states require them for trailers as small as 1,000 lb GVWR, anyway. I don't like hauling any trailer that weighs much more than the tow vehicle. In difficult situations, a heavy trailer can start to push the tow vehicle around, and that can cause problems. No matter what the rating, I try to stick with no more than about 2/3 of the tow rating, or better yet no more than the tow vehicle weight. That is my personal limit, not a rule or law. Besides, towing a heavy trailer is hard on machinery. Others can do as they please, it's just my preference to avoid those possibilities.

And I respect your preference. This brings us back to the original topic. It's your PREFERENCE how you want to get your Spyder where you are going. Wimp nothing, that trailer is slammin !!! Enjoy the rain people who don't trailer, because Dabusses and I will be high and dry. No hotel fees either. Who was the last person that slept in your hotel bed ??? :roflblack::roflblack::roflblack:

I understand and respect your views. However it would make it a little tough on over the road trucks if they couldn't tow more than their tractors weigh. Towing heavy loads takes a skillful driver. I have many years of driving big rigs and feel very comfortable with my setup. But I agree it's not for everybody.:D

I love it!!!! Not wimpie at all if I had the cash I would run to the nearest dealer and secure one in a heartbeat. Then again I would have to trade my Honda CRV too since it can only tow 1500 lbs.
Enjoy it!

:agree: Somedays I am 120% of rated capacity:roflblack::roflblack::roflblack:
