• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

    Coolant filling tip

...which maybe explains a great deal about their hit and miss reliability. Keebler Cookies I have never seen, tasted or even heard of but tiny elves living in hollow trees form part of my distant ancestry folklore. As my dear old mother loved to remind me with a twinkle in her eye, I'm 1/8th...

    Coolant filling tip

Adam Two When I shuffle off this mortal coil I'm hoping to have a private word with the Creator. You'll no doubt be delighted to hear that a third hand is one improvement I have in mind to suggest for humanity, plus the ability to breathe normally while taking a stroll under water. An eye...

    Coolant filling tip

You will notice a LED hand lamp in the photo stuffed in behind the expansion tank to illuminate the inside of the tank, the better to see the "MAX" line and the coolant level. It works great, too. I had the torch, string and funnel among my assortment of bric-a-brac which I optimistically refer...

    oil change 1st time.

Dimple Plugs I fitted Dimple plugs to the engine & oil tank drain holes, mainly for their magnets which seem to me to be strong enough to pull the moon out of its orbit! I don't much like hex or torx bolts where crush washers are used, they're too easily rounded out.

    Coolant filling tip

I recently replaced the coolant on my RT and found getting the new coolant into the expansion tank without spills needed a little ingenuity so here is a photo of my string, funnel and hose contraption! ;)

    AirHawk Seat Pad

My wife used an Air Hawk when we used to long-distance tour on a BMW R1150RT. For the past 3 years we have had a 2011 Spyder RT and she "couldn't be more comfortable" - (her words, not mine). So the Air Hawk is redundant now but we'll keep it just in case the RT's very comfortable seat grows...

This is what I did, just in case, using an old camera strap.

I think I am at a croos roads

The OP is young and those of us who still remember with complete honesty the failings we have been "guilty" of in our own young lives should simply smile, nod wisely and show the guy a little understanding and compassion. He shot his mouth off and gave vent to his feelings. So he was a little...

I think I am at a croos roads

Those old guys prolly see you as some kind of baby speed freak. The warning on a packet of Life is that youth doesn't last nearly long enough and you'll be an old timer sooner than you expect. Guaranteed. You are right to enjoy your youth while you have it, same as all those cranky old fools did...

    2014 RTS Frunk Light

Don't worry, I've had my 2011 for 3 years and only last week I saw my light for the first time! My RT's frunk came with a liner which has been covering the frunk's bulb, although on investigation I've discovered a flap in it allowing it to be uncovered. The flap was never folded out of the way...

How many came off a Goldwing, BMW or Harley dresser

I was in good health until 2009 when I was hit by a stroke. Counted myself lucky that its effects were mild. What remains is a balance problem which varies in intensity, sometimes needing a walking stick, sometimes not. I can no longer ride two-wheelers. My wonderful BMW R1150RT was laid aside...

    lockedout of trunk

Does the release switch on the dash also operate through the cable or through a solenoid directly attached to the locking mechanism? Engine has to be running. Just a clutch at another straw...

Is Anyone Having Front switch problems or Fog light troubles on there 2013 Spyder RT

The parking brake on the rear wheel works by cable and its operation is quite separate from the hydraulic system so there won't be a leak of fluid if (when) it goes out of adjustment. There is a useful video somewhere on SpyderLovers on how to adjust the rear brake cable for stretch. (Been...

    Transmission filter change?

So I was right, both should be changed at the same time! My original dealer, the one I bought my RT SE5 from, is no longer a Can-Am dealer. He now sells electric bicycles! Before he dropped trikes for bikes he changed my Spyder engine filter during a service to the new longer type which...

    Transmission filter change?

Today I made a 100 mile trip by car to a UK Can-Am dealer to pick up filter(s) for an oil change. When I was supplied with only an engine oil filter I asked for a transmission filter, too, believing both should be changed at the same time. A few seconds on the computer and I was given the news...

    Balancing

RideOn in the UK comes with instructions about how much to squirt into your tires based on width and diameter. It's in table format so you just look up the size of tire and read off the quantity needed. Takes away the guesswork. ;)
