• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Difference in 2013 RSS vs St Frame

The foot controls are more forward on the ST; I believe the BRP rep told me it was a 5" difference.

Spyderfest may have pushed me over the edge!

Looks like I'm getting the Magnesium/Steel Black after all. Is there anything specifically I should check for at the dealership or watch for on my first ride? Has anybody bought one that was not set up properly?

Spyderfest may have pushed me over the edge!

Dealer just called back to say that he can't get me an RS-S SM5 in Magnesium. :( He's going to look for an orange one, which I would be cool with. A little OTT for my style, but attractive. I told him that the only color I really CAN'T do is that pea-soup green.

Spyderfest may have pushed me over the edge!

Pulled the trigger! Just to follow up on this thread, I just put down a deposit on a new 2013 RS-S in Magnesium Metallic; I should be able to pick it up Thursday or Friday. I'm REALLY excited!

Would you be interested in a tiliting trike?

Not always. Some leaning trikes have passive tilt, with no direct link between tilt and steering. Others use extremely sophisticated active management, such as the Carver (which was brilliant).

Would you be interested in a tiliting trike?

I know sport bike riders love the "swoop," but I also love feeling the side g-forces you get in a flat-handling vehicle like a racing kart...and that 2013 RSS I demo'd at SpyderFest felt an awful lot like that to me.

Would you be interested in a tiliting trike?

Over the last couple of days, the motorcycle blog kneeslider.com has run several posts about tilting trikes (meaning they lean like a motorcycle in turns). I noticed that several commentators mentioned the Spyder unfavorably, basically condemning it for not being a tilting trike. The implication...

Are the 2012 and 2013 rs ergonomically the same?

At SF I had a chance to directly compare a '13 RS to an earlier RS and current ST and RS at the same time and place. The '13 RS bars are slightly higher, but not as high as the ST (but they look to be interchangeable) and nowhere near the RT handlebars.

    Helmet Question...

Once you find a helmet that is snug and feels like it fits, try this test: Fasten the strap, put your hand under it at the back of your neck, and try to rotate it forward on your head. If it rotates more than a couple of degrees, it's either too loose or the wrong shape for your head.

    Helmet Question...

Even though our N103s are set up for Nolan's N-Com integral communicators, we went with a pair of Scala Riders instead, based on the reviews (G4s -- the G9 wasn't out yet). They can get flaky every once in a while, but overall they are very impressive. We are very pleased with them.

    Helmet Question...

My wife and I both have Nolan N103 modulars, which we really like. But the most important thing is to get something that fits your head properly. Try the fit in person. It's not just the size, but the shape. Some helmets won't fit certain skulls regardless of size.

How do you know you've been to SpyderFest 2013?

...When another Spyder ryder passes you going the other way and you don't find it at all remarkable.

When would you like to see Spyderfest Happening?

To me it's a lot like being offered a banana, eating it, and then saying "I don't like bananas much. I wish you'd given me an orange."

what farkles did you get for your spyder at the fest?

Oh, I forgot...we both bought waterproof rubber gloves at the O'Reilly auto parts store. ;)

what farkles did you get for your spyder at the fest?

My wife arrived at vendor village on Friday with a totally stock 2012 RT. When she left, it had— - TricLED fender lights - Baja Ron sway bar - Spyderpop bump skid - Spyderpops highway pegs - Baker center, upper and inner wind wings (she didn't get the lowers because of the highway pegs). And...

When would you like to see Spyderfest Happening?

I agree with everything Lamont said. Besides, some event has to be the first one of the year. Spyderfest makes a great kickoff to the riding season, and I have no intention of waiting until May or June to start riding!

A couple of Spyderfest Vendor Village pics

Just for fun, here's a short GIF animation of the parking lot when it was a lot more full. Taken from video I shot Saturday evening between the parade and the bike show.
