• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

2014 RT not Shifting into 1st or R after shutting down - any advice?

Push repeatedly won't go into 1 or R. Today it's working fine, but I haven't gotten it hot. I stopped to repair a Harley brake line on one of our bikes.

2014 RT not Shifting into 1st or R after shutting down - any advice?

In Texas after 1700 miles of dodging rain and tornadoes this week. The RT is not shifting at times into 1 or R after shutting down. Finally it does, thankfully. It seems to happen when it's hot. It's 98 degrees down here. Any advice? No error lights... This is my first tour on this Spyder...

Smoke from the Canadian Wildfires reaching Wisconsin - anyone/anywhere else in the lower 48?

Heard smoke stream extends far south now. It's hung over Wisconsin and at times smells like a campfire is near. Rode in this in Ontario several years ago. I came home smelling like a big sausage!

Just added Ron's Ultimate Sway Bar - amazing difference!

I hope to run the kenda's off this one quickly. I had Vredestein's on my RS, the couple I bought this from at season end last fall had just put on new kendas (Ick). I'm hoping they are some improved from the ones shipped on the RS in 2010. Will change out all when I wear out the rear tire.

    I am now Spyderless

67 now... so hopefully quite a few miles left on Spyders... but when the time comes, will replace with a Corvette and then a really fast spiffy mobility chair with headers and racing stripes! Blessings to everyone no matter where on life's timeline you are.

Just added Ron's Ultimate Sway Bar - amazing difference!

Just added Ron's beefed up ultimate sway bar to the new-to-me 2014 RT (with 15k). The difference in handling, just like adding his product to my previous RS, is amazing. Thanks for the support for Spyders, Mr. Baja. Your products are much appreciated! Dave * Leave Thursday am on the ride...

    I got another New Helmet!

I bought an inexpensive winter/spring heavier and warmer helmet. I like it so far, a Ryzer Exo Scorpion. But my summer touring helmet (which is loud, so I wear earplugs) is a Klim Carbon. I like the lightness and also the ratchet strap instead of D rings on the Klim. Both helmets flow air well...

A different take on HD logo on stuff!

Rode Harleys all my life... until someone cut me off on my Ultra in Deadwood. Wife put me on 3 wheels, Spyders, and she said if it happens again, I'll be riding a golf cart. Surgery in Spearfish SD with a surgeon good at putting bikers back together! Small hospital with a great surgeon... Dr...

DESS error may be due to all the aftermarket electronic add-ons? Just throwing it out there!

That's the hard thing... without BUDS, you can't do much other than retrieve codes... and BUDS is an expensive purchase. But if you do your own work, it does eventually pay to have it (if you are not near someone with it).

DESS error may be due to all the aftermarket electronic add-ons? Just throwing it out there!

Make sure he has Megatech license level... just BUDS Diagnostics doesn't have the DESS Disable permission. BUDS Diagnostics will only allow additional keys to be added to the DESS system. I have had the Megatech licensing for 10 years for this vintage of Can Am product line, and disabling DESS...

What's the Benefit of pairing helmet intercoms to the bike?

The SMH10 was the first gen of Sena communicators. I believe it can pair with more than one device. I'm using the 5 Series now with Mesh. Our group moved over 2 years ago, after using the SMH10's for about 7 years. I still use the SMH10 on my Spring/Fall helmet and when pairing with my wife, who...

What's the Benefit of pairing helmet intercoms to the bike?

I think the older Sena smh10 can only pair to one device ... not multiple as newer Sena models can. Some of my older generation earbuds are like that too... but the newer bluetooth buds can pair to multiple devices (phone and computer, etc.)

    I got another New Helmet!

I know helmet manufacturers want to sell product, but how often do you replace your lid? What is the life of the helmet you are comfortable with before you "have" to move along ... not just because something new called out to you? I've heard of folks that replace them with the same lifespan as...

2025 Planning 11th Memorial Trip to Central Texas (in memory of my wife)

The four who ride, myself and 3 good friends, are all chomping at the bit to be in the saddle headed South. Plan is 3 days down - From WI to Columbia MO; then to Eufala OK and then to the hill country area Llano Texas. We have a number of loops planned to ride and out to the Big Bend area before...

DESS error may be due to all the aftermarket electronic add-ons? Just throwing it out there!

Turned mine off on my 2014... don't want to be 1000+ miles from home and have that error staring at me, requiring a trailer ride to God knows where a competent Spyder dealer might be from me. It is worth the peace of mind to me not to have to chance it with that known issue. And... it is nice...

Any tips on the process of replacing the Old/malfunctioning ECM on a 2010 RS with a New ECM?

I started with plugs and wires on an older machine; as many have said it can be that. The stock wires are not great, BajaRon's are. He offers a great set with wire/plugs. Even if that isn't the problem, it is a great improvement. Check that there is spark on both wires. The ECM out threw a code...

Any tips on the process of replacing the Old/malfunctioning ECM on a 2010 RS with a New ECM?

It worked! The original ECM was trash (as I thought). Swapped to the used ECM that I had purchased, let BUDS work its magic reworking the new ECM and marrying it to the cluster. A short process, and "Old Blue" is running on two cylinders again. It will be nice not to orphan it as a parts...

Any tips on the process of replacing the Old/malfunctioning ECM on a 2010 RS with a New ECM?

Not sure, Dick. But from what I've read, the first gen DESS is programmed separate from BUDS/ECM and was done using the ignition lock/keys and a dealer red key to activate it when the first key was inserted to program. From what I've also read, it sounds as though most dealers don't have that...

Any tips on the process of replacing the Old/malfunctioning ECM on a 2010 RS with a New ECM?

Have been exploring more with the ECM issue of this early gen Spyder RS. I think I'm pretty screwed if the original ECM cannot be revived by BUDS/Megatech, as the salvage ECM cannot be tied to the 1st gen DESS system of the bike! Short of finding a new lock, installing it, and then finding a...
