• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. 2010 RT 622 trailer to 2012 RT

I recently purchased a 2010 622 trailer with the round plug on the trailer. Today I had a hitch installed and the trailer wire connector is a 4 pin square connector. What is the easiest way to connect these together?

Easiest way is to purchase a square-4 pigtail from a trailer, RV, or tractor store and replace the round-9 on the trailer or splice the new connector into the trailer harness. The 2010 RT-622 uses separate turn signals, and you will lose this function. Your turn signals and brake lights will now be combined on the red lens. The 201 RT-622 has separate right and left brake wiring, which makes this possible.

I would test and verify the output of your square-4 connector to find the functions. I will tell you the standard wire colors, but these have been known to vary by manufacturer. Same on the RT-622 wiring, but I will tell you what the manual says. I'd make any connections temporary until you test them, then solder and heat shrink or use waterproof butt connectors to make things permanent.

Spyder - to - Trailer

Brown (running lights) - to - Brown (Orange at trailer rear)
Yellow (left turn/brake) - to - Orange (White/Black at trailer rear)
Green (right brake/turn) - to - Red (White at trailer rear)
White (ground) - to - Black (Black at trailer rear)

If it is the standard square four plug simply order the square four pigtail from bike to trailer. This way you have no splices and (best) a simple plug. Order this from you dealer and BRP. Access for trailer is about 18 inches from the front of the trailer on the bottom. Pigtail is about five feet long and is run inside the trailer hitch tubing and plugs into the trailer harness.

You can download parts schematic for the RT-622 from BRP. It also (pigtail) comes with simple instructions.

How's the new knee?

I am in the same situation, when the hitch ever shows up. We just got a used 2010 trailer and it has that goofy round plug. After seeing this and a different thread, I my try to take it to the next level and just re-wire the trailer when redoing the plug. I hate having non-functional things so I am thinking about tapping the proper wires in the Spyder to keep the amber trailer blinkers functioning properly, I may try to get the clear back up sections lit with the back up lights (and change the amber bulbs to clear/white) and run an extra line for power for light inside the trailer. First thing is to get the hitch in which sounds like it could be a month or two. Funny thing is that dealers seem to be stocking the trailers, but not the hitches (how you gonna pull your new trailer home:dontknow:)... not logical to me, but whatever works for them I guess...

Having trouble finding the link. Do you have it?

Thanks

Knee

How's the new knee?

Hi Ann and Joe very painful but slowly improving. Still on the walker and lots of Ice. I started feeling sorry for myself until they brought in my roommate.. He is on his fourth complete knee replacement. He has had three failures.
Thanks for thinking of me.

I had already purchased the BRP adapter to allow the 622 to be pulled by a small car. Now I am torn between buying a square 4 to a flat four adapter or just chopping off the new oddball and replace it with a conventional flat four.:banghead:

To update,

I finally talked to BRP via the dealer and got the correct harness for my 2010 trailer. I had to replace the harness from the 7 wire and reduce it down to the new 4 wire. This was pretty simple. They printed me off the BRP technical sheet on the exact step by step procedure to perform this. It was almost right on the money. When I turned the key, the running lights came on. When I checked my left flasher, my right one came on and visa versa.

They switched 2 of the molex connections on their paperwork. The bad thing is, after locking the molex connectors in place, you can not remove the lock without breaking it. I will run the trailer as is and get another molex lock on order and swap the 2 wires.

Total cost was ~$50.
