• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. what is dps on the 12 rt? it came on yesterday & took it to shop they fixed all codes & now code for power steering is on. an I the only one that has all these problems with a 12 rt? also when stopping 7 waiting to go the bike feels like it's has the brake on when I start up it'll chug doesn't want to go. How many hours of work should I expect on this problem? They have to take front nose off & check out wiring.

Sorry to hear you are experiencing problems (codes) with your 2012 RT. It does indeed sound like an electrical gremlin(s). They are the most difficult and time consuming to repair, because they are not easily found. Hopefully, you have a competent dealer doing the work.

I would not rush them on the time, would rather opt for them getting it right the first time. Probably an hour on/hour off on the front nose area. There are a lot of electrical connections under there.

The 2012 RT is considered one of the best model years. Once you get yours up and running, hopefully, you will be good to go.

Bummer..!!

pulling the front is not a big deal and the dps (dynamic power steering) unit sits there. If you are not feeling a steering change when the light comes on it may be something else like a glitch. They should be able to check that fairly easy. Make sure your oil is up to the correct spec's and level could be the clutch causing the chugging. If there were any brake drag you would be getting a code and light...good dealer will get you fixed up...

tire pressure can have some effect also

I can pull the frunk assembly off my '12 RTS in 15 minutes. Do you have an SE or SM transmission? Slow accel on SM could be clutch slippage, or, and I've done this, wrong gear. :opps:

On SE, it could also be clutch pack not engaging due to low oil level. Other issues could be bad plugs, plug wires.

These problems could be as easy as a bad battery or loose connections. I agree give the dealer all the time they need. Good Luck!

In a word "battery"

Follow the instructions and work your way down to the battery. There is every possibility it's as simple as a loose connection at the battery. If these look good, take the battery to a battery dealer for a test. These are gel cell batteries and while a volt meter may show good voltage, there may not enough amperage life left to function properly. Worth the effort.
