• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

2013 RT Limited SE5 Trade in value

WP_000008.jpgOut of curiosity, I took a look at the trade in value of a 2013 RT Ltd SE5 on Kelly Blue Book. According to them, it is $18,200.00 or about 10K less than I paid for mine in July 2013. No way in H*** that BRP would take it back, give me the 10K PLUS the difference to buy a 2014.:banghead: So, my latest farkle is a fire extinguisher---just in case.:(

Well..!!

they are estimates..Kelly, NADA etc. Have seen better at the dealer level. Depends on the area (zip code) time of year etc. Now is not the time in cold weather areas...:thumbup:
 
The 2013's seem to be a special case when it comes to low resale value. I am guessing due to some of the aforementioned issues, and the fact that the market is going to be flooded with trades for those wanting the newest version of the RT (2014).

I also took a hit when I changed from my 2008 GS-SM5 to the new and exciting 2010 RT-S Premier Edition. The 2008 cost 17K and I had 6K worth of farkles on it. At 23,500 miles, I got $13,500 in trade on the new 2010 RT-S. Cost on the RT-S was $27,185. I was looking at the paperwork just the other day. I also heard the song and dance that farkles are not worth anything. I just wanted the RT so bad that I was willing to take the hit at that time. I am still driving the 2010 but it is on the block to be traded off in March or April. 36,000 miles and not a lot of farkles. Once again--I want the 2014 RT-S pretty bad.

Each person has to determine what is going to work best for them, and is the hit worth it or not? I would now recommend if you have a 2013 you are happy with--keep it a couple years or so.

I still find mine fun to ryde . . . and that is why I bought it and what I'll do with it. I do hope CanAm will resolve the heat issue. Increased airflow under the Tupperware, tweaks on the computer that controls how lean some run, and wrapping the pipes may be good solutions. . . . some folks have said they were promised a fix . . . so I'll wait and see. nojoke
 
insurance

i like my bike but i would never try to put it out if it caught fire. i pay big money for insurance and if something ever happened i would dial 911 and roast marshmallows till they got there. as long as i don't get hurt that is why i carry insurance on the bike. than i would tell the insurance company that the bike had heat issues and let them fight it out. now that having been said, i have put close to 2500 dollars into the bike with the vertika tryke upper and lower vents plus painting the vents to try to help the heat issues, so it's not like i am hoping it burns, i just wanted to make sure you understand that. i do like it or i would not of spent so much money to try to fix it
 
I've traded in a few vehicles over the years and can't remember when I got anywhere near what I thought the vehicles were worth. Trading in is usually not a win unless the dealer in question has a customer lined up for your trade.
 
cuznjohn, I'm looking forward to warmer weather for many reasons . . . one of which is how those Veritka farkles help resolve the heat issue! nojoke
 
You'll lose 20% of a car's value when you drive it off the lot... I got over $18K for my 2010 RTS in trade, so I lost $6K for two years of riding... not too bad.

I have had the 2013 RT Since august , It has not given me 1 problem to date, and I do not let any grass grow under it, padal to the metal , knowwhatimeanvern, well any way I plan on keeping it untill it will not fire up and run, Maintenance is the key to any mechanical product, antthing can break down, its just how you take care of it, I LOVE my Spyder , Going to bike week this year, riding my SPYDER ALL THE WAY, Call me the Breeze!!!
 
I bought mine in September of 13 right at the time of the fire recall (first clue) and it's not been good since. I understand the issues with the bike but don't understand the factory blowing it off or the dealer for that matter. I'm so sick of people telling me "that's how they are" it's not even funny anymore. I have tried a few things to help but with the cold weather here it's not know what works till summer. There have been many posts here about a fix coming down the pike and those that have spoke with someone (that knows something) at BRP there could very well be a fix coming only time will tell? At this point I don't really care what mine is worth because I plan on keeping it IF they get the heat issues taken care of otherwise my dealer agreed to take it back and put it on the showroom floor and sell it.
I have tried repeatedly to e-mail BRP this winter but their "contact us" forum on their website will not complete the tasks at hand, figures! Outside of writing a paper letter and mailing it they just don't want to be bothered I guess.

Just keep riding an allow the bad engineering take it course... if you know what I'm saying...my dealer offer me $12k for my ST-S

"its just how you take care of it" . . . really?. . . please explain why my master cylinder, charcoal canister, and parking brake cable melted in less than 1000 miles . . . I'm happy for you that " It has not given me 1 problem to date" . . .but it has already been noted here that not all the 2013s are having the problems. Don't blame me or other 2013 owners for poor maintenance, because our 2013 Spyders had severe problems . . . I love my Spyder, too, and ride it, regularly, I check the oil after every ride . . . I got my 600 mile service done by the dealer at 599 miles . . . but it does have issues that are not my fault, regardless of your assertion that "its just how you take care of it . . . " I suppose that if you have never had cancer, then people who have cancer are to blame for not eating properly? If you have never had a home invasion, I guess you think people who have are at fault?? :banghead: S :cus: t happens, midnightbreeze50, and it isn't always the fault of the person to whom it happens!
