• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

2017 F3-L - How can I keep glove box shut when phone is plugged in and driving?

2017 F3-L Glove Box Issue
  • When I plug my phone in using the USB connection located in the glove box
  • Apple play and sound works great - no issues at all
  • Use for WAZE and music
  • I have my phone on a mobile device holder in the middle of the handle bars
  • I try to close the lid, however the phone cable prevents the lid from closing fully and locking
  • When I get to highway speeds the lids "flips up" due to wind
  • Around town the lid does not flip open
  • I tried small strips of duck tape to keep it closed - it still flips up on long trips
  • I am hesitate to "notch" a small opening out to allow the lid to close
Anyone have any solutions they used while keeping the integrity of the glove box lock?
Thanks,
Jim

I guess I would try to see if I could reroot the connection around out of the box somehow and get it up to your bars. It's going through the box shell with some type of connector so it should be able to be pulled back and rerouted I would think.

After having taken that whole box off of the bike when the latch was broken, I would take the Tupperware off of one side, make a hole large enough to run the cord through, and seal it.
Ours is a 2014 RTS.

Glue a couple of strong magnets on. Glue one to the lid and the other to the edge of the opening.
Glue them on, screw them on, or get the peel and stick kind.

I have ridden my 2017 F3 L probably over 10,000 miles with the glove box not completely closed and it was not once flipped open by the wind. I don't have the stock shield on, I have replaced it with a Madstag shield which may help with your problem.
