There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. 2017 F3-L - How difficult is it to replace the front shocks?

I am looking to replace my front shocks with Elka Stage II. While replacing my headlights this morning, I was scoping the difficulty of me replacing the shocks and save a couple of hours of labor from the dealership. Is this a difficult job, and besides a jack, are there any odd tools you need?
Thanks,
Jim

No, it's not difficult at all. The top shock bolt access is the most difficult part and this is easier on an F3 than it is on an RT. I don't know why a dealership would charge 2 hours labor for this. I would say you can do it in about 1 hour. Especially if you have a helping hand here and there.

When you take the old shock off you probably need to take a couple measurements. I dont know about the 2017, but my 19 the shocks are like the coil overs that were on my race car. So over all length from "shock eye to shock eye" would be good to know, gives you overall length. Maybe distance from top spring perch to bottom perch would also give you a spring height and preload if any if not changing springs.

On my F3L, to access the top shock bolt, I remove the frunk liner and access the bolt from there. Use a 3/8 ratchet, a 3/8x6 inch extension, a 3/8 universal, and a 3/8x15mm shallow socket. You can use a wrench or another ratchet and socket to remove the nut towards the engine side.
Darn hands of mine just don't work well in tight spaces anymore.
