Not sure what the purpose of stock horns are on bikes. They sound like a ruptured duck. Anyone have air horns installed that can provide advice on installing them?:helpsmilie:

I want people to notice me especially when they are texting or chatting on their cell phones. I was interested in mounting this (see link) air horn on or in the Spyder but haven't done so, yet. Maybe someday.

I hope somebody mounts this horn and posts their experiences.

opcorn: looking forward to seeing where you mount that Ear Cannon.
I would highly recommend that you consider hooking up the horn to run through a relay, instead of through a switch or the horn button. If the horn shorts or sticks, you will run down your battery quickly, and could start a fire, even if your wire gauge will handle 20 amps. Best to leave horns dead, and trigger them remotely, intead of running a hot wire directly to them.Well I put the Ear Cannon right behind the nose in the front.
I made a little metal stainless steel bracket to go crossed the
two metal channel that runs from top to bottom and put it there.
It was a tight fit but is completely out of the way and protected.
It's really hard to explain what it sounds like, cross between a train horn
and a steam whistle but I really like the noise it generates and completely
gets your attention and isn't that what a horn is supposed to do.
I did hook up a separate horn switch and ran the hot directly to the battery with
a separate 20 amp fuse.
I purchased the horn wiring kit but was completely disappointed with what you get
the only thing that I used was the fuse holder the wires were too short to do anything.
I kept the factory horn and switch I believe now that I'm going to rewire to the factory
switch because really you don't need two and when you put them together the sound
makes it sort of distorted.
I think it was a good buy for the price.

U think the spyder has a weak horn? it is waay louder than any motorcycle i have ever had....they all sounded like the road runner..beep beepMy horn is definitely useless with my exhaust. Plus when going down the interstate, ya definitely cant hear it.:gaah::helpsmilie:
...I do have a question though or maybe somebody else can answer this has anybody tried or even if it's possible to push crank a dead Spyder? ...
Never tried it but I doubt it. Most modern bikes with processor-controlled engines cannot generate enough juice on a push to make everything work. It was the same on my ST1300, VTX1800 and the GL1800.
Saw that done this weekend. Spyder SM5 solenoid just gave out. Two of use pushed while the rider got set for the drop-clutch maneuver. Worked like a charm!
But it wasn't a dead battery... that was the topic of Nexus' question.
