• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Any insights into this VIN check Message?

Every once in a while when I check the VIN of a spyder for sale on the Can Am site I get this message:

"The VIN submitted may be a valid VIN but for a three-wheel vehicle sold outside the United States or for a different BRP product-line. In those cases, we invite you to contact your dealer or BRP to obtain the status of the safety recalls related to your VIN."

I called my local Can Am dealer, provided the VIN, and they got the same message. He said it was probably a Spyder sold in Canada and then imported to the US, and as such, recalls wouldn't be applicable. Does anyone have any other knowledge about this?

I had a friend who had a diesel Ram truck made for Canada which the dealership transferred to the states for him, because nothing here was available. When he brought it in for a recall, the dealership said he could not get recall work done here because recalls are not available or any warranty/recall work for his truck.

That sounds like Regional dealers trying to weasel-out of doing recall work because they would have to get BRP to re-imburse them for it. Decisions to enact a recall would be made at BRP Head Office in Valcourt and I'd be pretty disgusted if they'd let the Regional Offices decide if they wanted to go along with it or not.

I'd contact Valcourt & see what they can do to help.

Just heard back from can am. They said it was a “grey market vehicle that was imported to the u.s. and to their knowledge no recalls had been issued or completed”
