Any suggestions on a good riding camera - need one, after a road rage incident!

I had a road rage incident where a scum bag got mad that I went around him, so he tried to run me off the road. If I had had a cam, he would not have gotten away with it. I of course want one that is water proof and is decently priced. Any suggestions?

I have experienced that same problem. I will have to say that some people are just waiting for the rage.
I just wanted to 'get on down the road'.
So I made the pass and that should have been no problem.
This person must have been having a bad day. Now you know the rest of the Story.

Sorry, I don't have a suggestion for you about a camera. I hope you find what you need.

Maybe check out 'Amazon.com'.

My 2c worth is also to consider what type of camera you want as much as what brand.

1).. 12v front-facing (or front & rear facing) mounted to your Spyder.

Pro's - no battery to have to charge, always on if your Spyder is running, discreet.
Con's - Only captures what's directly in front (or in front or behind) while your Spyder is running.

2).. Battery powered front-facing (or front & rear facing) mounted to your Spyder.

Pro's - Discreet, no wiring into the Spyder needed. Will record even if your Spyder is turned off.
Con's - Needs to be charged up, only captures what's directly in front (or in front or behind), you need to remember to turn it on.

3).. Battery powered, freestyle mount on your chest, helmet, glove etc.

Pro's - Not so discreet, will record whatever you point it at if you are sitting on your Spyder or not. Can be useful for 'off the bike' encounters. Will record even if your Spyder is turned off.
Con's - Needs to be charged up, might draw unwanted attention if you get into a shouting match, you need to remember to turn it on.

There's probably more pros/cons but this is all I can think of at the moment.

I have the VIOFO MT1and have no complaints about the system.
It will support up to a 256Gb microSD card. When recording, it gives you two files for the same time, front and rear.

Let me guess. Some idiot in a jacked up pickup, right?

Thanks for the feedback. My thoughts are to have one mounted to the chest. A helmet cam means I need a mount. But I have several helmets. I am also concerned about drag. Mounting on the bike is good, but in a crash I would be separated from the camera and it's unknown if I could retrieve it.

The chest mount is good. So you pretty much get everything you see. The INNOVV helmet cam easily attaches and comes off the helmet because of a small attachment bracket. It doesn't interfere with flip-up face guards or shields. I hope to be able to use the INNOVV camera in my truck as a dash cam too. Can't drive them both at the same time? I'm trying to go for multifunctionality. However, there are tradeoffs with whichever way you go. One good point with a chest mount is, if you survive (LOL), is that it records everything you see after a negative encounter, as well as what led up to the incident.

There are several suction cup mounts for GoPro cameras.
I've tested mine mounted to the black cowl behind the windshield, although I haven't used it while riding yet.

I've added the GoPro USB pass through door over the battery, so it can be plugged into a USB power source on your bike, so you aren't limited by the internal battery.

There is a GoPro Quik app for Apple or Android phones, which you can use to start or stop the camera recording.
You can also use the app to preview what the camera sees so you can adjust the mount appropriately before starting your ride.

The mount I use has "XIT" on the base, and has a lever you press down to create the suction, so it's not a "lick and stick" type mount.
I'll make sure the mounting surface and suction cup are clean to avoid any excitement. :p

I use a INNOVV K5 which films front and rear plus GPS mic and it is wired into your bike, I also ended up a getting a INNOVV H5 for the helmet five-hour battery life and if you get the adapter, you can use an external battery source with a 512 SD card you can record all day, both units are IP65 waterproof rated and the reason I ended up two different types with the H5 I can look around were the K5 is fixed, I have never been keen on some of the other offerings that give you a screen as there are enough distraction on the road let alone having another on your RIDE.

One thing I did not mention the K5 will start up if you bike is hit while you are parked and take shots if hit the limitation it is only front and rear and the H5 is far cheaper than some of the other helmet cameras.

Here is a quick clip of the H5 in the wet https://studio.youtube.com/video/OsXwyAg30Ek/edit

and one of the K5 showing front and rear views https://studio.youtube.com/video/OAyp1ptVq_U/edit

both units have EIS on

Thats my lot for now

I have INNOVV K5 cameras on all my bikes/rigs. Turn the key and they come on... you don't have to worry about batteries or if they are charged!

I have an Insta360 One RS that I mount to the bar. 360 degrees of viewing comes in handy. Not just for rage and accidents, but to document some of the nice things you see on your rides.

This was 1 of my 1st vids. I moved the camera around a bit to try to get the best spot to place it. I now use it exclusively on the bars.

Long video, but hopefully, you can tell why I chose it.
