Anyone know the thread size/length of OEM battery bolts?

Anyone here have recollection on thread size/length of OEM battery bolts? I added a couple things and now I'll likely add one more ring/star washer to each bolt. I'll get longer ones now if I can find out their size. Thx

I bought longer ones a long time ago ( so I could add extra terminals ) I think they are 10mm .. To check put a 10mm wrench on what you have .. good luck .... Mike :thumbup:

The bolts on the battery of my 2017-T are M6 threads.
I use longer bolts and star washers to retain my extra wires at the terminals.

Bolt head is 10mm. Threads are M6. Length is up to you and your needs.

A bolt which uses a 10mm wrench is not 10mm. A standard motorcycle battery uses M6 (6mm-1.0) x 12mm long bolts. The corresponding wrench is 10mm as Mike suggests.

Not sure those post risers will help with adding additional leads to the battery. It looks like they're meant to provide a convenient secure post for jumper cables.

Also you can't go too long with replacement battery bolts otherwise they'll bottom out before they're tight enough to hold additional leads securely.

My fear is that if you get the length of the bolt wrong you can have either one of 2 scenarios happening.

1. The bolt is too short and you get too little thread engagement into the nut and it loosens with
time as the threads pull out.

2. The bolt is too long and bottoms out and doesn't clamp the stack properly.

You might want to consider putting a stud at the battery terminal by using a 20 mm or so long bolt, cutting off the head and screwing that into the existing nut. Get a 6mm x1 nut, washer and lock washer and use that to secure whatever number of leads you have to the battery. This setup will ensure engagement into the nut and never bottom out.

The bolts are the same as the lawn tractor battery bolts, and you can buy packages with several sets from Amazon or any of the auto parts stores.
