Wow, I'm beginning to see a Spyder on the road about once a month now. However, I also hear dealers are dropping the line or closing their doors. Which way do you think this is going to go? As owners, do you think we own a valuable commodity or a dinosaur? Just wondering.

There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Here in New England, I see other Spyders almost every time I go out for a ride. They are getting more popular in my opinion.

Same here in Maine, I see the brand all the time! In my book, it's getting more popular as the years go by! I love mine and would not swap it for any other model, the two wheels in front for me is the way to go. I ride with other trikes and watch how they corner and hit bumps, leaving me with no doubt at all that two up forward is the better choice!! 
Yes, there is a lack of good shops to take them to, and yes, dealerships are dropping out for whatever reasons and there's causes for that. If the shop was any good to start with may be one cause, and the way that BRP's handling business with their dealers may have some cause in the equation also! My 2 cents!

Who cares whether it's popular or not? As long as I can get parts for it and receive quality service beyond my capabilities that are pretty good, I don't care a whit. I bought in part for the bride and me when her RA finally killed a very long bicycling career. She didn't really care much for it but is gracious enough to give me a very long leash, 100K+ miles.
There's also the simple fact that they've sold a fair few of them in the years since 2007!! 
There were already over 100,000 of them on the roads in North America by their 10th Anniversary back in 2017; so now, almost 10 years later, it's only reasonable to assume there's at least double that number, altho I suspect it's somewhat more than just 'double'!!

There was a time I used to get/track info on the numbers of Spyders registered here in Oz, but I haven't bothered since about 2017 (IIRC, just before the 10th Anniversary thing in Valcourt, Canada). I think it was at that Anniversary event that BRP admitted to having sold 100,000 into North America (Canada & USA combined).

There are areas of concern, as the OP points out. But overall, I don't think we have as much to worry about as the overall 2-Wheel market does. A market that has seen a definite decline in sales as the newer generations do not seem to have the same passion for riding that that the more seasoned population has.

I see Spyders and Rykers daily in the Foothills of North Carolina!
The dealer thing is a concern!

Well here in Vermont, ( New England) I sometimes see spyders on the roads.
Also, it depends on what area I am traveling in. When I do see spyders on the roads , i give them a
wave.
We have 3 Can Am Dealerships in Vermont :
1 in the southern part of Vermont,
the 2nd one central/ northern part of Vermont. This one has the Can Am spyder line,and the boat, ATV line.
the 3rd one is in the Northern part of Vermont( near the Canadian Boarder).
I also love mine,I would not trade it in. I like being in the Spyder community, and meeting our spyder owners, going to Spyder events( like Spyder Quest, in Saratoga, New York), plus doing some site seeing, I like being in the open air, adding farkles when I can. I like being on this site, helping other Spyder owners.

After this weekend , the price for them just went up by 50 % in the United States. I don't think I'll be getting that red rock anytime soon.

When Sue and I are out on a ryde we usually see a Spyder or Ryker. We did have a BRP dealer in Lincoln Maine drop the Spyder.
