• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Are there any decent Sun covers for when Spyders are parked?

2024 S2S - are there any decent covers for the seat while parked so you don’t fry when you’re done with lunch??

The only option I can see at present is to break out the sewing machine and stitch pockets for the handle bars and a Velcro strap to hook onto the passenger grips or the luggage top box.

Not worried with rain - just keep the seat cool when there's no shade available…

Thanks, Martin in NH

Several companies make a "half cover" or "travel cover" for the Spyder that covers everything from the top case to the windshield, and down to the bottom of the seat, but not the lower portion of the bike.

Some companies make a "Full Cover" which covers the bike completely (front to back), the top case, and everything on the back of the Spyder (including the top case, mud flap, rear tire, Lights, etc. Also, the front of the Spyder windshield, front tires, Frunk, dashboard, handlebars, head lights, and fog lights etc. are covered.

The full cover has attached tie down straps, so you can secure it on your floor boards, or the "A" Arms.

I had a "Full Cover" for my 2014 RTS-SE6 (since Traded/Sold) when ever it was parked outside.

Not really sure about a seat cover.
But if you have a good idea for one
let us know.

Call me cheap or something. I have been using a blue hand towel to cover my Spyder's Seat. So far nobody has taken my blue towel 💙.

I have two towels just in case.

I have the BRP travel cover for overnight use. While quick and easy it's still too much of a pain for daily sun protection use. If you find something please let us know.

Thank you all! I have a full "my overnight" cover but it's too much for a lunch break.

The Coolass cover is interesting - thanks!

There used to be 2 sisters who made sunshades for Spyders... I think they were called 'Spyder and Ryder', but their link doesn't work any more so maybe they have closed-down. I did some digging and there is another chap in Florida called Rhino Motorcycle Sunshades who might be able to help... https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=61579198856327#. Maybe also try Cycle Shade https://cycleshade.com
Funnily enough, I reckon they traded under the name of 'Spyder Sisters' 😁
But I do think that you are right in that they are now out of business. The last mention I can find of them actually providing any shades here on the Forum is this thread:

Thank goodness my wife and riding partner of many years can use a sewing machine. An old towel and some Velcro, instant sun cover...

We use a white bath towel to cover the seat when we are off the bike. Been using it for years.

I recommend a sheepskin … feels great all the time. We got ours at Misty Mountain.

Cycle shades looks expensive to me for what you get.

Misty Mountain

I've gotta agree! ^ Mine's not a Misty Mountain sheepskin seat cover, just one I got here locally at the time waaay back when. I've since used that same sheepskin for about 40 years now, on the seats of many successive motorcycles, and I now use it on the seat of my Spyder! So if you work out the cost of the initial outlay over however many years a good quality sheepskin will last (which is many, especially if you look after it! ;)) it's really a tiny 'per annum' investment for a whole heap of comfort over many years! (y)

Just don't let it get wet too often!! It's not really 'uncomfortable' as such to sit on it, letting all the trapped water soak thru your riding jeans, leaving you sitting in a soggy condition, often wet enough that the accumulated puddle will occasionally let some water run down the back of your legs and pool in your boots, but it isn't exactly a 'nice' feeling either!! 😖 I guess you could always put your waterproof trousers on to avoid that, but doing so does bring its own issues and 'comfort, or lack there-off' concerns, especially if the weather becomes hotter as the sheepskin dries (as it often is here in Oz!) So I strongly recommend either carrying a 'quick fit' rain cover for it, or leaving your sheepskin attached/secured to the seat in such a way that it's very quick and easy to take off and stash in the frunk or trunk or somewhere if it looks like rain! Besides, letting your sheepskin get wet means that it can take a very looooong time to dry out, and that very drying out process can 'stiffen' the hide, making it a tad crunchy to sit on for a while afterwards - it can take quite a few rides and maybe require a little working of the hide to make it all soft and supple again. ;)

Mind you, the sheepskin only covers the seat, so I also have a stretchy shade thingy that the Child Bride made to stretch out over the handlebars, dash, and the RT's glovebox area, keeping all the dash and any bits I'm likely to touch while riding just a little shaded so that they don't fade &/or get too hot while the RT's parked in the sun; and I do also have an OEM Touring type half cover for whenever I'm parking it overnight outside a motel or pub etc. 😁
