• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Automatic change problems

Any one had this before?
driving out of work the other day and as I pulled away quite hard, i kept the throttle open and found the gears wouldn't change up, but as I backed off in they went. I was under the impression that the gears changed no matter how hard you pull away. So what I have started to do now is slightly back off the throttle and the gear changes are very smooth. Is this common?

I have a 2010 RT SE5 and I've always had a problem when the engine is cold and the weather is cold shifting. It is usually only from 1st to 2nd, every once in-awhile from 2nd to 3rd. I've found that if it's cold and the engine is not at temperature to not run the RPMs up high. I get going in first and shift up before I would do that if the engine is warm. If I remember to do that I hardly ever have a shift problem. Noticed that you are from England, my family roots are from Devon.

Thanks for your comments, Devon is a beautiful place when it's sunny, but it's currently under water as the weather is really wet, I know that sounds like typical English weather but it is really wet at the moment, many areas are flooded. I'm up in North Wales, and for me Devon is a 4 hour drive, but the UK is very small compared to the US or Canada,

I'll check my oil level as soon as the rain stops, thanks. Having not long bought the bike it's only done 1k miles since the service, so what is the oil usage rate of this engine?

Yes it was cold, about 2 degrees c, no problems when it was warmed up,

Be sure to ride the Spyder for at least 15 minutes to get it at the proper temp to check the oil and then check the oil within 30 seconds of shut down for a proper reading

Transmission Shifting

two degrees Centigrade converts to 33 F +/-2 degrees roughly. it is possible the oil is a tad on the heavy side at those temperatures you would be wise to pre warm the machine some before riding. My machine is just backwards of yours the older it is the slicker it shifts and the quieter!

72 F and wet here right now just North of Daytona Beach FL

72 degrees, wow I was over in Florida a couple of years ago and while I was at Disney I spotted my first Spyder and that's when my love of these machines started. 32 is about the freezing point of water so I was just above, but I'll take all your advice and keep an eye on it, just another quicky Guys and Girls, do you suffer from condensation in your head light len's ?

these 3 little terrors are my friends little boys,,
