• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Battery Bracket Questions (all models) Noco NLP20 related

Hello Spyder folks,

Had a question that I'm posting to all Spyder folks running a Noco NLP20.

1. Do all spyders run the same battery mounting bracket as a 2019 RTL?

2. How did you mount the battery? Any issues with lateral movement of the battery using the foam shims?

3. Do you find the mounting bracket to battery interface lacking?

I just picked up a Noco NLP20 and got it charged up. I personally am not loving the mount or the foam insert between the bracket and the battery.

Would there be any interest in a 3D printed battery locking bracket to more securely hold the battery and works with the OEM bracket without modifications?

Can’t answer for the 2019, but on my 2024 Sea-to-Sky I used two of the supplied spacers at the bottom and the supplied foam tape on both side and it was a perfect fit with these. It is well secured and not moving at all and what a powerhouse this battery is!!

I'm kinda wondering if the hold down is the same on all models or at least this generation or if they vary from model to model I'm using the 12mm and 15mm stacked risers.

I finished modeling a top interface that blocks the tangs on the bracket from being able to get anywhere near the terminals and isolates the bracket without having to alter the bracket as well as lock the battery from moving around.

I ran out of filament for the final test version, but I have another roll in the filament dryer now so I can print what I hope is my final prototype tomorrow before I print it in ASA filament.

I will probably also create a custom base plate that will replace the bottom 12mm spacer and will secure the bottom of the battery, not just the top, so I can skip the stick on pads.

The next print is quite a bit different than this early design but you get the idea. Photo is shown with terminals area facing away. So in use normally this would be rotated 180 degrees and facing the frunk with the metal bracket over the top.
