• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Well after changing the stock brakes toe EBC I developed major squealing even after using the recommend anti squeal epoxy. It got so bad people would turn to see what was going on so I took pads out and inspected them. Seeing nothing wrong I reassembled but this time I applied the silicon liberally as the bottle says... I made sure every inch was coated to about 3/16" thick. Reassemble and went for ride.. and it was gone!

Are you talking about the stuff you put on the backs of the pads? I used CRC on my EBC fronts....red stuff that gets tacky after sitting awhile...and that worked for a good bit but now they are squealing again. Maybe I need to pull them off and reapply?

Just Stop hard a few times.

Yes same stuff you used, I just needed to apply a thick layer and to all areas it seems. I had not put any where the pin that the brakes clip onto either.

Thanks Blue....got a bottle of the stuff, prob enuf to last my lifetime...and will pull front wheels off and add some. I had put a good coat on to begin with but its been 10 or 12K ago. Prob needs cleaning and recoating.

I'm taking it in this week to have the rear pads replaced with Ron's EBC's and have already coated them myself to make sure it got done. I'd do it but the rear has worn strangely with the outside pad real thin so I want the Mech to chek it out.

Worth a try...will give it a shot. :D

Just to explain a bit further, you need to get going about 45-50 mph, then brake as you would for a real hard stop (panic stop or nearly so). You do not need to actually stop, just slow significantly. Do this several times and you should see some improvement. If not, your brake pads could be glazed from improper break-in, or from repeated light use of the brakes. They can usually be revived by sanding, but if you have never done it, best to leave it to the tech or get the help/supervision of someone who has. The pads need to be sanded perfectly flat (lay [or glue] the sandpaper on a flat surface like glass and move the pad while holding it down flat), and they need to be kept clean. Clean only with the appropriate brake parts cleaner. Beveling the lining edges helps, too.

Brake squeal is simply the pad vibrating enough to make the sound. At first it's a little vibration which can cause more and you get a vicious cycle going and a lot of noise. CRC Disk Brake Quiet absorbs this vibration. So a good, thick layer (within reason) over the entire backing will give you the most absorption and the best results. Cheap insurance.
