• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

brake squueeeeek

I used crc disk brake cleaner and then applied crc disk brake quiet. I had to do this twice as the squek returned after about 600 miles. So far so good since 2nd time application. About 1000 miles since. Cheap and easy, no need to take the bike apart.

Wrapped the pipes on W's Spyder. Tech had done the stuff on the backs of the pads at the first service to no avail. Skweeeeel is gone since the pipe wrap.

I don't understand. How would wrapping the pipes eliminate the brake squeal?

brake pads...

I just got my bike about a month ago...the brakes are squeaking a little at times as well..not sure if normal or not...it is a little annoying but they do work well regardless...

I just have to comment that the picture of you on that motorized tricycle is hilarious! It's great!!!

It has been suggested that he close proximity of the exhaust pipe to the hydraulic brake lines might cause the brake fluid to overheat. Wraping the pipe prevents this. Seems to have worked and lessened or eliminated the squeal for many of those who tried it. :dontknow:

Aren't the same brake lines used for the rear too? I only get the squeal in the front.

Also, I'd expect the squeal at all speeds when braking. On my :spyder: the squeal only occurs at 1-2 mph.

:dontknow:

I had the same problem, the crc brake clean and crc disc brake quiet seems to take care of it. I think it fills in any light grooves in the rotors and that seems to do the trick. Cheap and easy. Well worth a try. No need to pull wheels or brakes. Onlt takes minutes.

:agree:

Just bought a can of CRC Brake Cleaner this morning. Jury's not out, but the squeal is gone. Unbelievable how much dust, dirt, and :cus: came off the disks.

... time will tell how permanent a fix this is.

You need to apply the crc disc brake quiet after you use the clean for the best results. Just apply cleaner again let dry and then apply disc brake quiet, go for a ride and apply the brakes about 6 times and you will be golden!!

Will do. Thanks for the tip.

Aside from relieving the brake squeak did you notice any performance gains or less heat coming from the engine bay?
