Glad to see that they are still working with the electric concept.

The big question...what is the future? Range and price are the two biggies. 100 miles is NOTHING if I were to buy an electric touring bike. Price could also be scary.

Given the limited range of current electric technology, I think the electric Ryker makes a lot of sense. Especially, given its intended younger market, and already having a CVT. With the torque of an electric motor and the CVT, an e-Ryker could REALLY be a blast.

I doubt an electric Ryker would have a CVT. Electric motors make maximum torque from zero RPM to the engine's limit, so a CVT would be redundant. An electric doesn't need to run in a "sweet spot" the way an IC engine does. There are plenty of direct-drive electrics.

The only electric motor on a bike should just be the STARTER motor!!!!!!

I think their R&D time would have been better spent developing a turbo diesel with a drive shaft, 2" more ground clearance and elimination of the wait time from key on to starting. :yes:

It will happen down the road soon, I believe!! They have cars on the road, race cars, out on the track doing it! Why not bikes? They will improve the battery's so we will get more miles of smiles with one! It will happen!

For sh1ts and giggles go to a Tesla dealer and test drive an S Model with Ludicrous Mode.............I was still grinning ear to ear several hours later after launching that car in Ludicrous Mode, I also drove a 600 HP car to that test drive that then felt slow after the Tesla drive.

Electric motorcycles are not selling. Why, they are expensive, their real world range is less than the official advertised range, especially when hot. Speaking of hot, batteries heat up when charging and discharging. In case you didn’t know, the charger is in the vehicle, not on the wall with the cable. So far, motorcycles have not included the extensive battery cooling techniques like Tesla uses due to space and cost. So, charging times are longer and they heat up faster during charging and discharging.

It’s not going to save Harley and won’t make any money for BRP. Breakthrough needed in technology.
