• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Can Am Spyders Resale value isn't great...

I have been monitoring the resale value of Spyders and Motorcycles in general on FB Market Place and Craigslist... I don’t think I’m gonna see too much of a “Rate of Return “ if I decide to sell it. But, after saying that, the fun factor has been worth it.
Location has so much to do with resale value. Here in WI, with a short(er) riding season, resale value is usually less than the national average. I dealt with it a couple years ago when I sold my 2019 F3S. Maybe try to sell it in your winter home locale :)

You are so correct. I got a great deal on the 2 Spyders that I currently have. But I am seeing deals out there now that rival the ones that I got 2-3 years ago. I just saw a very low milage F3S for $5500 near me. If the wife wouldn't have my head, I would pick it up for a spare. But I will try to be good and resist.

I have the same thoughts - spare parts.

It will remain to be seen, but the brouhaha about dealerships not servicing Spyders over 10 years old and possible spare parts problems should virtually disappear because the V-Twin engines are no longer in production, and the engines that are are curretly in production have enough commonality and proven performance to change the maintenance scene. Unfortunately, there will probably always be ignorant dealerships and/or service staffs and all one can do is run from those blokes while simultaneously opening a case directly with BRP.

If you're thinking of "resale value" when purchasing any bike, then you probably shouldn't be buying one. With all the bikes I've bought over the years, NEVER have I been thinking about that at the time of the purchase. It's not a monetary investment, but rather, it's something that speaks to your soul (only a true biker will understand).

I bought my first 2018 RTL Chrome Champagne in Oct 2020 for 17,500
Bought a 2018 RTL dark Asphalt Grey in Jan 2024 for 15,500
Sold the first one in Sept 2025 for 15,000
Bought a 2018 RTL Chrome Asphalt Grey in Nov 2025 for 15,000

I would say that prices at pretty stable for later first gen(2014-2019) three cylinder Spyders.

Because the new ones in the last few years have gotten so expensive, the loss of them is going to be higher.

You are correct. I don't really think too much about resale, but I do really search for a bargain when it comes to the purchase price. The biggest time I consider resale is when it comes to mods. I know that I will not hold onto many bikes for very long. I have been riding a relatively short 19 1/2 years and in that time, have been through 23 or 24 bikes. So when it comes to mods, I pay for those that will make a bike comfortable and fun to ride for me. I do not go for the flashy stuff because I know that mods will only get about 25-50% of their cost back, and everyone's taste is different when it comes to those items. I tend to think you might get 50% return on a mod if you can remove the part and sell it separately, but only 25% or less if you sell it on the bike. I actually sold my stock 2018 BMW K1600B for more than I paid for my current 2019 K1600B with over $6,000 worth of mods. It all comes down to selling at the right time, in the right place.

Except the reverse in true in Arizona snowbird country. Maybe Texas and Florida are the same.
Yes, I can see that this rule of thumb isn't going to apply everywhere.

Here in Tennessee we always have a good number of customer's Spyders for service. Some waiting to get worked on, some waiting for customers to come get them. In the spring, we get a great deal of inquiries to purchase them from passers by thinking they are for sale. It is tempting! The profit margin would be awesome! The gravy train might not last long though...

Sounds like a business expansion opportunity.

I never gave resale value a thought when I bought the roadster 11+ years ago. I intentionally bought at the end of the 2014 MY to get the best OTD price. The odometer is now > 95K and at least 150K is my target.
