• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. Changing Headlight bulbs in a 2014 RT Limited

Has anyone changed out the stock 60W bulbs in the headlights of a 2014 RT Limited with a higher wattage bulb such as a HID 100W Bright White or one that requires a ballast? If so, which one did you go with and have you had any problems with them getting too hot and melting the housing front reflective cover? Doesn't BRP offer a HID replacement for the headlights that are 100Ws?
Thanks,

Yes, with bad results. http://www.spyderlovers.com/forums/...-for-Mike!&highlight=higher+wattage+headlight

HID have caused some problems also. Do a search for ballast. That should bring up plenty discussions.

The LED replacements work very well however and do not have problems with the nanny protesting. Great WHITE light and easy to install. I used the Phillips LED units from XenonDepot on both RTs and F3 with great results. Both heads and fogs on the RT.

I had no problem with the HIDs and they make world of difference. I also tried LED but they were less bright than the stock bulbs. There is a new generation of LEDs that are supposed to work great. These use copper heat sinks instead of fans to cool the bulbs.

Good luck

Randy

Which bulbs did you use?

Is there a trick to getting the clip back on? My Goldwing was easy but the thicker wire on the Spyder clips is make my fingers hurt! Maybe a set of gloves with hardened tips?

BTW - I am putting Xenon LEDs in my ST.
