There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. Craigslist Find of the Day - D.C. Area

Hmmm, never registered??....I would think a dealer would not let a machine out the door without tax, title and license paperwork. It is automatic in Texas, perhaps different in other states. Hmmmmm

It depends; he could have purchased it out of state (easy for the D.C. area). For instance, I live in VA, bought in PA; they gave me the title paperwork and slapped PA temp tags on mine for the transport down, but I didn't actually "register" the vehicle or pay the sales tax until I went down to the Virginia DMV nearly a month later.

Had I let the temp tags expire before I went down to the DMV, I could be forgiven for saying that I "never registered" the bike.

(Of course, the question then comes up-- if this guy never registered his bike, does he still owe sales taxes on it, i.e. when you took the title to the DMV will you get slapped with hundreds of dollars in sales taxes? Maybe this *is* hmmmm....)

I stand corrected. I am not familier with out of state sales. It seems to me a dealer would have some means to "transfer" the machine to the buyer....if for no other reason than insurance purposes....

As a sidelight, I sold my '03 Burgman 650 two weeks ago. I put the new owners name on the title and dated it. I had him sign a bill of sale and kept a copy.

In Texas, you can fill out a form that goes to the DMV giving info on the sale. You are then off the hook if he does not register it or has an accident.

:popcorn: A lot of scams on :spyder2: have come up in the not to distant past. This one seems like a good deal--because it is not a "to good to be true" type price.

The only flag for me is that it was never titled.

Whoever buys--just be careful so you don't get taken to the cleaners if the ad is a scam.

I'd say this one has a very good chance of being legit. I would want to do the deal in person, I'd want to see the paperwork, and I'd be very sure there were not going to be registration issues in my home state.

But with your ducks in a row I'd say this looks like a real possibility. You know he'll come down off this price so the deal would probably be a bit better.

Not to be mean but if he got a DUI i'd rather him NOT get on any kind of bike. This might be a good thing for him.

As long as the guy doesn't try to tell you that the bike is in Nepal and you need to wire the funds to Portugal! :lecturef_smilie:
He probably got his "DEWIE" before he had the chance to license and title the bike... that part of the story would be plausible here in NYS...
If I needed a bike, I'd call on it...

Never registered, but got more looks on it then his porsche..He probally got pulled over for no tags and they nailed him for the DWI also.

This is a little funny...in MD, he'd have to register the bike and pay I believe 6% of the value in tax...

How did it get 400 miles without a license on it (no registration, no license)?

Rockville is a nice area, but I'm not sure the reference to the Porsche is necessary...would be careful of this posting...

Why would you be? It takes, like, three days to even leave the state of Texas, right? :D

Dave, off the subject somewhat, but the BMW Club of Houston has the Solstice Run on the Saturday closest to June 21 (longest day of the year). They start at mile marker 880 on the TX/LA line and ride to MM 1 on the TX/NM line. This must be done from official sunrise to official sunset, about 13 hours. They rest and do another 120 to qualify for the Iron Butt award. (1,000 miles in 24 hours)....Wild.

Yeah, it is big!! When I ride up to Illinois, over one half of my trip is in Texas....
