• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Dealer woes!

Last Saturday my 2016 F3 with around 2500 miles on it went into "Limp Home Mode" four times. So first thing Monday morning I took it to the dealer that I bought it from and left it with them. I had not heard from them as of 3:00 PM Friday afternoon so I decided to give them a call. I was told that my Spyder was next up on the clip board. So basically it sit there all week and nobody did squat to it. I advised the service guy that I was going to Spyderfest and would be leaving out no later that Thursday morning. Several things disturbed me very much. One, the fact that it sat there all week and nobody did nothing to it. Two, it has rained cats/dogs here in Tennessee this week and it is standard operating procedure at the dealership to move everything out of the shop in the mornings and park it outside. I don't think that any motorcycle equipped with a sound system should be exposed to a lot of rain. Three, my line of thinking would be that if I bought my bike there and it had an issue within the first 2-3 thousand miles, that it should be looked at immediately. I am thinking at this point just to go get it and put it in the trailer and proceed to Spyderfest as planned.

Note: Every time it went into limp home mode, I pulled over and turned off the ignition. When I waited about a minute and turned the key back on the "Limp Home Mode" went away and I was good to go. The VSS indicator was also illuminated. We logged about 250 mile and I said before it happened 4 times.

At least your dealer is open on Mondays. In my neck of the woods, they're all closed.

Sorry about your problems.

Another dealer that just don't get the concept of customer service. Bringing in a :ani29: needing service and letting it sit for a week until someone can get to it is beyond my comprehension.

Lack of communication transmits the "We Don't Care" message about you as a customer.

BRP should be vetting their dealers more closely. The bad ones really do the company and the brand a disservice.

Most customers $30K for a toy does not come easy.

Need I say more? Nahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh! :(:(

Well.........

Looks like there is some type of problem with a brake sensor. There is supposedly a TSB that involves adjusting the brake pedal/switch. Yesterday I took my trailer to the dealership at their request. They said BRP wanted them to ride the bike with the trailer to see if the Limp Home Mode happened again. So far they have put almost a 100 miles on it and cannot get it to happen again. I told them I will be there tomorrow morning with my enclosed trailer to pick up my bike and head to Spyderfest.

Unfortunately, this is a fairly common problem with dealers, particularly those that sell other brands of motorcycles. Spyders aren't their bread and butter, parts take a long time to get (why BRP doesn't routinely overnight parts I will never understand), and it can be hard to get BRP to give the OK for warranty service. If a dealer sells twenty Hondas and three spyders, guess which bike is first on the lift?

The
one that got there first. Most dealers are ethical enough to work on bikes in the order received based on available qualified techs.

We can bitch about there not being sufficient techs available but everyone cannot be entitled to front of line privileges. Wait your turn. Does not matter when you bought your bike, from where. Only exception is stranded while on the road gets head of line triage.

She is back home!

Well not long after the post i submitted the phone rang and it was the service department advising me that the F3 was ready. Upon arriving at the dealership I was told that there was a problem with the BLS (Brake Light Sensor) this sensor senses the pressure applied by the rider to the brake pedal and when sufficient downward pressure is applied the brake light comes on. There was a problem in the amount of pressure applied and the time it took the brake light to come on. The technician, who I used to work with years ago called BRP on this three different times. At one point he told the guy at BRP that the Spyder is over-engineered. Although they never got the bike to go in to Limp Home Mode again after riding it nearly a 100 miles, this is what BRP said needed to be fixed. Well it is done and was under warranty so other that being without my ride for a week and a half, I'm ready to go to Spyderfest! :D
