• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

I noticed in another thread a picture of your Spyder with something on the seat; I believe for comfort. Is there a website where I can read about it.

I ask because my gf and I went to Americade, which was about a 3 1/2 hr. trip, and she complained of her butt hurting. Then, 2 days latter a 4 hr. trip and once again she complained. I had no problems either trip; so, at this point I'm not thinking of a new seat.

Thanks

http://www.beadrider.com/ Check them out. I had one too and they worked well for a change (ride for a few hours with the beadrider, a few hours without it, etc.) They support you just a bit more than the stock seat padding and allow a little extra ventilation between you and the seat vinyl.

There you have it, bjt answered for you. I kept my beadrider and will take it to LA with me as well. Even though I have the Russell, I can still get hot riding all day and the extra ventilation will be nice. No one likes Monkey Butt.

One problem is that with the beadseat if you have a yellow Spyder everyone will think you're a taxi - :D. On a serious note, they make it easier to slide around - whether that's good or bad is debatable. If you're into looks over function - you won't like em.

The only real solution to your problem is a new seat. The new BRP one looks pretty decent. I have the Corbin and can ride all day without a hint of monkey butt. The stock seat was terrible in that respect.

I just bought one of these at americade and it fixed my hot butt issue :) I have the corbin seat and still got warm after a couple of hours of riding. The ride home was nice.....but averaged 75-80 all the way :)

:2thumbs: for the beadrider... I don't care what it looks like...it works. I've used mine for 6-8000 miles+ in all temps. Especially here in the desert heat, there is no substitute for ventilation!

I'm thinking of this as an intermediate step before getting a whole new seat. Do any of you remember what size you got that fit the stock seat?

Ventilation is exactly my point. I love my Russell seat but with 14-16 hour days planned and riding across the desert, the bead rider will help with the sweat in the "seat" so to speak. A hot day in the seat is a hot day regardless of what kind of saddle you have. Also for those that have the stock seat, it really does help with the undo pressure on your tailbone. It is more slippery than the stock seat but I liked it that way.

I'm thinkin' 14x14, but as long as it's at least as big as your a**, you can't be too far off!
Seriously, ask them at Beadrider... they are really nice folks and will be happy to see what other Spyder owners have gotten. I also had a local upholstry shop flatten out the hump in the seat and move the "step" back a couple inches. (for about 1/3 the cost of the Russell and done in 4 hours) With a new 2-tone cover and the Beadrider, 500 mile days are not a problem, whereas before, 200 miles was painful.

I can't imagine 12+ hours a day on the Spyder. 6-7 hours and my body is drained and needs rest - wouldn't matter what I'm sitting on. My body hurts just thinking about 12 hour rides . I guess everyone has different limits - and should know them and keep within them to be safe.

A week ago I rode a long ways and was in a bit of a 'daze' - fortunately I was out in the country when this happened - but I totally blew right through a stop sign while going 60. :yikes:. Pulled over at a small park a few miles down the road and rested up before going further.
