• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. Do I really need to replace the DESS & ignition for key replacement.- 2014 RT-S?

My 2017 RTS came with two keys (and a trailer barrel). Last year I lost one of the keys. Ordered a blank from Can-Am (it was $72.00) and had it cut ($10.00) to match my remaining key. When I bought a Kuhmo rear tire at Coyote Powersports in Boerne, Texas and had them install it, I lucked out and they programmed the key free of charge. When I got home that afternoon, I of course promptly found the missing key. So I'm out $82.00 but now have three keys.

Yup, that'll do it! :roflblack:

Always the way, innit?! :gaah:

Sorry, haven't been here in quite a while. Just this past summer I finally got around to getting to the Rock Hill Can Am dealer. Bought the key, but the service guy said he wouldn't charge me till he tried to program it. According to him, 2014 was a "transition" year; some '14s could be programmed, but some would need a new DESS module. I lucked out and now have a second key. Just figured I'd update this thread for anyone else.

Hi Wahrsuul,

I am just letting you know that I started a Thread ( on Aug. 13,2015) titled DESS Key Code Again!!!!!!!. This thread is sticky and Pete Aawen closed it. When you get a chance read post # 1,100 by Pete Aawen. The thread is very resource full and has a lot of info in it about the DESS Module and etc.
Thanks for the update!

If you do get it that's good but, get it knowing that you can be able to use it on your bike and that if there's any side work then that's great but don't get it planning on doing a lot of work to pay for it as that may never materialize.
Me I like doing things myself.

Not knowing where central SC is exactly, I will say that there's already a couple of SL members that have them in SC.
I have BUDS with the Megatech license. It allows me access to all functions, including DESS programming.
It's a great investment if you plan to work on your own bike.

does it let you turn off DESS for 2014 to 2020 models? how much was the BUDS with Megatch license? Lifetime or annual?

I received one key with my 2014 RT-S. I've been meaning to get a replacement for a while (four years now).

I was at the dealer Saturday to pick up a few things, and figured I'd ask about a replacement key. They tell me that for 2014 (and 2015 the think) that they can't program in new keys - you have to replace the DESS module AND the ignition. About $250 and comes with two keys. That's just the parts, I didn't bother to ask what they'd charge to install as I'm sure I'd need BUDS to do this myself.

Does this sound right? A search of the internet has proven inconclusive.
nope, doesn't sound right

I think so. I'll have to confirm next time I connect.
I haven't had any trouble with DESS. I only got one key with my bike, and I did successfully add a spare.
HI Cobranut,

When I had my 2014 RTS-SE6 I got (2) keys with it. The second time when I got the DESS Error on my 2014 RTSE6 I got a trailer lock.
