Doing a DESS disable with a wire on a 2010 RTS SE5 - is the antenna no longer needed?

I found a video and have a document on how to disable the DESS on a 2010 RTS SE5 - and I found the connections! I have a new keylock mechanism coming with new keys so I want to disable the DESS to use the new keys as there is no dealer/service to program it, and I really don't care about DESS, anyway.

Question is: Will I need to connect the antenna on the new key mechanism is the DESS is bypassed? The DESS bypass is pretty straight forward - has anyone done this?

Yeah, one of your fellow country-men posted a video in both English and French on this about 4 years ago. I assume that's the one you are speaking of. Never did it myself, but even your written write up says that the DESS antennae is not used. So, don't use it. I don't believe that anything actually needs to be reconnected. Just jumper those two wires together and you're good to go. Although, I believe in that video, if we're looking at the same one, he did it slightly differently than the written write up, he disconnected everything, and connected the Beige and Black/Yellow wires together. Bottom line he figured out, is simply that the early DESS system simply runs the Kill Switch through the DESS module. He bypassed the module and jumped the switch right to the ECM, and voila. Works.

I have done this on a friend’s 2013 RT. She's still using the original switch. Why do you need to change the switch? If I had found out about this when we bought my wife’s 2010 - we got it cheap as the owner lost his keys and didn’t want to pay what a dealership was going to charge. A new DESS was only $150.00, the cost of lock smith for a standard key and the same cost of a new program key. A new DESS will automatically program the first key that turns on.

Do the manual hidden cables mod that is talked about on this forum. I did this when I was replacing my DESS. I wanted to be able to get in the seat or frunk with out needing a key.

Well, the lock came - and I changed it and it is working well - as it had a new key, I did the DESS bypass and all is well. Thank you to everyone.
