happy old fart
This week is Police Memorial Week and a ceremony was held in the county where I live today. As always it was sad and celebratory at the same time. Sad because all of those who died in the line of duty were acknowledged going back to the 18-hundreds to our most recent loss here in 2015. Celebratory because of the appreciation shown toward them and to the men and women on the job today.
Unfortunately, those now on the job...though willing to make the ultimate sacrifice...face hatred and scorn. And not just from the citizens they serve, but from politicians who attack them and blame them for society's problems and rush to reduce critical funding which is needed to help keep them safe and to provide training to make them better cops.
If you're still on the job please be extra vigilant. And thank you. A big thanks also for all of you retired LEOs.
2-6-8 to all units. End of Watch for fallen units. Gone but never forgotten. May they rest in peace.
