F3 or Yamaha r3?

I would rather have the f3. It would be safer and still have fun on it and will also get good fuel mileage. It would be much easier and more comfortable for my wife to ride on it too. The r3 is just a lot cheaper. What would yall suggest? I thank ya.

I think the 2 are so different that only you can make that decision. They are about as different in form and function as they are in price. I would consider one a beginner sport bike (in the class of a Kawasaki ninja 300), And the other a 3 wheeled cruiser that really has no competition at this point. Only you can decide. If riding a passenger is a consideration, I would think on a can am RS, or ST. The closest thing that can am has to offer to a Yamaha f3 would be a can am RS SM5. You should be able to find a decent deal on one of those, but still not as cheap as a Yamaha F3. Good luck with your search.

:agree: you must consider your ryding. Sport bikes are great short range for quick canyon rides but not any fun on long cruising rides. Especially two up. An RS is a blast in the canyons and comfortable cruising as well. If you are planning more solo day rides both will work but for price you can go with the sport bike. Double up and the occasional overnighter your better off with the roadster. Then there is the safety issue...the roadster will give you more safety on the road. Have you tested them..?? Dangerous but convoncing...:roflblack: happy hunting..!!

Your post states the positive attributes in your mind about the F3 and the only attribute of the R3 as price. As blacklightning stated, they are not even in the same class of machinery. In some ways it's like "champagne on a Keystone beer" or "corvette on a volt" taste vs budget. I dare say most of us on this forum are biased for the Spyder. It will ultimately be a very personal decision for you based on your personal situation. Personally, I have not ridden an R3 and so cannot draw a personal comparison. [For some reason my computer won't handle formatting.] By your comments and selections of models, it would seem you are keenly interested in a sport ride. The RS or RSS offers a more economical and very sporty look and ride, too. Good luck with your hunt! Wayne

Thanks for yalls help. I would rather have a spyder. Does the rss or rs have good power. I read where the f3 has more which I like. My wife and I would take fun rides that are over 100 miles in a day and would use it to go to work. An overnighter would not be out of the picture. How does the rs or rss handle curves and to get up to speed compared to the f3? The f3 looks good too.

You won't regret it. I ride a RTL and I absolutely love it

Looking at pictures and videos some more, the f3 looks better to me than rss. Like the front end of it. It looks nice.

You will have to make the call on your own. Although I have not ridden the RSS or the F3, I think you would be happy with the power of the RSS in comparison with the small yamaha. Although the looks of the F3 don't do it for me, to each their own. As for handling curves, I think the RSS should be fine. There is also slightly more room in the frunk of the RSS than on the F3. There is also quite a bit of difference in initial price with the RSS and the F3. I say go take all 3 for a test ride, and then make an educated choice. Happy shopping.

The F3 isn't enough to make me sell my RS, but if I was buying my first Spyder, I'd really REALLY consider the F3, it's that good.

P.S. For the record, you can always do like me: buy the Spyder, and down the road, get a two-wheeler to scratch that itch whenever you need to. After all, bikes are like potato chips, you can never have just one... opcorn:

Yeah. I have always wanted a motorcycle but the danger of people not seeing me kept me from getting one until now, the spyder has gotten my interest and it would be great too. I do like the silver color f3 the best and then the pearl white.

I think the $10k for a 2012 is a pretty good deal. I would try to talk him down a little, or atleast have him throw in something extra (extended warrenty or service plan comes to mind.) Good luck.

I could be wrong, but I am assuming that he is a younger person since he was even considering a Yamaha R3. Even with the RSS, it would be like living in the lap of luxury for the passenger compared to riding on the back of a R3.
I do see your point though. For me it was either a ST or RT for my own comfort as well as the passenger.

As a rider of both CBR 600RR and RS-S. My wife would never get on the back of the Honda. But she actually insist on taking the Spyder for rides to places. It actually surprised me the first time she suggested it.

I know the R3 is new so I'm not sure of the power but I'm guessing it would be somewhat equivalent to the Ninja 300. In which, the power on the Spyder would be better than the R3. Now the R6 and R1 is a different story!!

But I love the fact that I don't have to put my feet down at every stop light. The RS-S is more comfortable than a sports bike. My eyes don't turn to the size of grapefruits every time I see loose gravel or oil.

If a major part of your decision involves safety and your wife..... and your budget is okay with the Spyder then I say definitely get the Spyder. You can always wait a couple of years to get the R3 used as at a cheaper price with little miles since most (not all) people used those bikes ( 250, 300s) as starter bikes.

Thank yall all for helping and giving advice. Yeah, we will go with a spyder. I am 36 years old and spyder would be better for both her and I. Hopefully, tomorrow we will know which would be better for us after riding(rs or f3). Glad we were able to find a dealer to allow us to test ride both.
