Fancy Spyder Rims?

I'll bet this has come up before...but I couldn't track it down.

My beautiful yellow Spyder has just turned 550 miles. ;) I'm beginning to slowly add aftermarket items. I find myself thinking...well, the stock tire rims are okay...the BRP 6-spokes are nice, but...

Well, folks...are there any sources for really elegant rims, for our Spyders? I'd truly love to find some with a lacey, spider-wed-like motif...for obvious reasons!

Any suggestions?

Thanks, Everyone...

Thanks, Everyone, for the info. Of course, the price of those rims in California...:yikes: But, it's a start.

If you know the bolt hole circle diameter and the wheel offest, you have thousands of automotive wheel choices that should do just fine.

Unfortunately, that is not the case. There are a few people on here that have mounted custom wheels that were cut specifically for the spyder, and others that have mounted automotive wheels using adapters. However, no one has found an automotive wheel that is a bolt-up item. As blackwidow74 mentioned previously in this thread, Ride Wright Wheels makes some pretty cool designs. Additionally, you can submit your own designs to them. Sam and the guys at ride wright are very easy to deal with. They are also pretty reasonably priced considering what other CNC machinists charge.

Until someone starts mass producing cool designs, you are stuck going down one of the paths I've addressed.:doorag:

I think the mag BRP wheels look sweet...I wouldn't get any other rims...why waste the money? That's just my take...

First... Some would definitely say the other wheels are not a waste of money. The look is entirely different than the 14x5 wheels BRP has to offer, and the performance gain is quite significant. They not only provide more contact, but they also increase the width by a couple of inches. There is a discernible difference in handling.

Second... Not all of us think the BRP wheels look "sweet." Beauty is in the eye of the beholder; much like some parents think their ugly little mutant children look cute.

Third... Opinions are like... well, you know the rest. Someone asked about alternatives for wheels, not if you--in your omniscience--could conduct a cost-benefit analysis on the possible purchase of aftermarket wheels. If you don't have anything constructive to add to the thread, move along to the next one.nojoke

Although I may agree with you on this, everyone is entitled to their opinion whether someone else likes it or not. That's what makes life so interesting or aggravating, depending on how you look at it.

Yeah, I agree entirely. It's not whether or not you like my wheels, but to tell me I've wasted my money is what I take exception to. Unless you know what I paid, what I expected to get out of the purchase, and whether or not I'm happy in the end, you can't begin to determine accurately if I've wasted money. It is the cost-benefit analysis I was referring to. If the benefit, as quantified by the purchaser(me), does not meet or exceed the price paid, then it is a waste of money. I appreciate the fact that everyone has an opinion, but to tell someone they've wasted their money is different.

Okay, it might be your time of month, but I didn't tell you PERSONALLY that you wasted your money...if you want to interpret it that way, so be it...perhaps you have some self-esteem issues. We have a great forum here where everyone chimes in on things...

People can spend (and waste, if they want) money on whatever they want...we all do that...that's what makes our bikes unique...with that being said, NewRider mentioned the stock and 6-spokers, and was looking for other options. I opined that the 6-spokers look great...

So, what's your problem? Why do you take everything so personally?

I'm not sure what the menstruation cycle or my self regard have anything to do with wheels. Additionally, I didn't attack you personally in any manner, I just explained that you have no basis to determine whether or not I wasted my money. Without any facts, you add little value to the discussion and should move on to something where you may actually have some knowledge to share; however improbably that may be. However, you just did make it personal and this is not the place to settle a personal dispute. I didn't have a problem--and even if I did at this point--you're certainly safe hiding behind the internet. Good evening.

Dude,

This doesn't have anything to do with facts...it's opinion...everyone has one, and that is a good thing. If you are threatening me by telling me I'm safe 'hiding behind the internet', then again, you have issues. You tell me it isn't personal, yet you were the one accusing me of saying that you wasted your money and the like, yet I never directed any comment at you.

The best thing for us to do is just 'ignore' each other...this way we won't continue to irritate each other. I have no need for your bewildering comments about what I've never said or done...as far as threatening me or whever you're going with the personal thing (lost on that), I have no idea where that came from...but, whatever...

Best wishes and goodbye to you...
