I have been with SL for several years now but I don't think I've ever seen an area where we can post a favorite road exclusively instead of on the General page. Am I missing it somewhere? Perhaps even a map link.

There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

I think it would be a good idea for a thread just devoted to favorite roads. We did have a thread that discussed a book with the 10 best drives or something like that. A state by state listing could provide some great information for those that want to see the good stuff.

I've thought about this as well.
I've looked over some of the "10 best roads" lists and have to belive there are many more "best" roads that people know about in their own backyards that are never mentioned on any list.
Also, what does "best road" mean: the scenery; the twists and turns; a combination of those; or something else?
For simplification, I guess each states' forum could have a thread on this topic. Who better to fill out the list than those that live there, augmented by those that might travel there a lot for their favorite roads?

Why not indeed. I think Lamont should start a new section, group, tab, whatever, on this subject.
Here are a few of my favorite roads that I have personally travelled on with the Spyder.
SOUTHERN CALIF.
SR 1, the iconic Pacific Coast Highway or PCH. Last year I fulfilled my bucket list wish of ryding every mile (I hope) of this highway. Its southern starting point is Capistrano Beach and its northern point is Leggett, where it intersects the 101. The southern section to Santa Monica pretty much sucks. Its all stop and go with hardly a view of the ocean anywhere. There are several famous SouCal beaches along this section however with many a parking spot few. Doheny Beach (remember Surfer Joe) and Dana Point are at the south end and many more that have been glamorized on beach movies and TV. Going past Santa Monica, slowly for awhile, you run into Malibu and here is where the highway starts opening up revealing its true beauty. The fun is just starting. When you are in Malibu, be sure to stop at Neptunes Net for food. Going north through the farmscape, the road intersects with Hwy 101 before going their separate ways and then joining again. After San Luis Obispo, going through the coastal wine country, you will see some of the most amazing coastal areas on the west coast. The roads can be slow, especially on weekends, because of tourist traffic and road construction. Every mile of the PCH is now open, despite the flash floods that wiped out major stretches several years ago. The big fun is north of San Franciso. Break out the Ben Gay because this part of the PCH is a total body ache, and worth every moment of it. Very few sections are higher speed and fewer are cruise control. You will be turning and/or braking most of the time. Beware of coastal fog, available at all times of the year. It can be a scorcher inland and a freezer on the coast. California can be fickled.
SR2, Angeles Crest Highway. Basically two entrances: on the LA side LaCanada/Flintridge and on the east side is Wrightwood. In between a twisty son of gun nicknamed the Organ Donor Hwy by local EMS. Our crotch rocket brothers particularly love this highway and the CHP makes sport in catching them. It only takes about 1.5 hours to go from one end to the other but there are side roads. In 2009, the owners event was held in LA. Going up the ACH with 250 Spyders was nuts, going down Big Tujunga Cyn Rd to Burbank was insane. How there were no TC's not sure but many people got lost I know. A favorite rallying point on the mountain is Newcombs Ranch. But I really enjoy the cuisine of Mexico Lindo in Wrightwood and now nearby Phelan. Their shrimp enchiladas are a double yummo.
